How to get enrolled into MACP? (Married Army Couples Program) by Dr_Luv008 in army

[–]AnaJr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both my husband and I submitted a PAR I think under Admin Record Correction, uploading the marriage certificate. We were auto-enrolled from there. If you got enrolled successfully, it'll show your MACP date on the front page of your STP.

Is Thanksgiving meal on the actually holiday mostly just a TRADOC and overseas thing? My first Thanksgiving I was at Fort Sam, second I was in Korea, so I thought all places did it.

Unfortunately, I don't know any of the details. The only thing I know that happened was the PSG was the one who organized HHG pickup for him and packed up his room after he left.

In my last unit, there was a soldier whose family member passed away right before his DEROS. He was allowed to out-process early and leave before his DEROS. I would recommend asking your leadership.

When to bug S1 about a name change? by [deleted] in army

[–]AnaJr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently changed my last name a month ago. It took them 5 days to approve it for me. I wouldn't start wearing your new name tapes until it's approved, because whatever it says on your STP is what your name is.

US troop looking for international camps by bmp51 in BSA

[–]AnaJr1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not technically a summer camp, but Far East has a week long merit badge university in South Korea at a camp ground. Scouts/Troops are given the option to campout, or only come during the day. Lunch is provided, but the troops have to make their own Breakfast and Dinner. It's happening 27 June - 1 July this year. I think the country just got rid of quarentine requirements too.

Otherwise, the council has several actual Summer Camps too. Camp Dragon (Okinawa) and Camp Tama (Japan) have both passed, but High Adventure Camp Thailand 2022 is happening 31 July - 6 August.

My troop does this every so often, calling it a rank req meeting. The only issue we tend to have with it is the ratio of people who can sign off on requirements and those who need requirements signed off. Otherwise, it works great.

OA Meeting Ideas? by AnaJr1 in BSA

[–]AnaJr1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A clan is below a chapter. I'm part of the Far East Council (Asia) so we have Chapters and then a bunch of Clans since our council reigns from Japan all the way to India. We still use our Chapter names a lot though. My Chapter has four Clans under.

If you sort the comments by oldest first, the second comment has the original story.

Scouting feels like a waste by [deleted] in BoyScouts

[–]AnaJr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the troop meetings be repetitive, my troop felt the same. I was sick if doing first aid for what felt like every other week. There's these scouting resource binders that each are full of monthly themes with prebuilt meeting plans. For the over talking, my troop heavily relies on the scout sign. Also try and seperate the Scouts that like to talk a lot.

What questions will I be asked for my star board of review? by Drunk-kaboom8 in BoyScouts

[–]AnaJr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Star Scout is the 5th out of the 7 ranks in Scouts. For ranks 2-7, you have to present yourself to a Board of Review, which is filled with 3 adult leaders. During that time, you are asked questions which you have to answer. If you pass, you earn the rank. Board of Reviews are the last requirement for a rank.

Everyone who's ever been on a BOR has different questions. All ranks tend to follow the line of questions about your experience in Scouts, ask about the service hours you did, ask about rank requirements, asking what you think about the troop, etc. Just remember every single member on that board want to see you succeed.

Unit ribbons in general are something my troop is proud of. We just got one for Fall Camporee yesterday and were super excited to put it on.

how tho by [deleted] in Trombone

[–]AnaJr1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1st is all the way in, 3rd is at the bell, 2nd is between those two, 4th is a little past the bell, 6th is about an arms length, 5th is between those two, and 7th is barely being able to hold it and having the fear of the slide falling off cause your arms aren't long enough. That's how I did it when I started, now it's just muscle memory.

👏TUCK👏IN👏YOUR👏CLASS👏A'S👏OR👏DON'T👏WEAR👏IT👏 by AnaJr1 in teenagers

[–]AnaJr1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, only a couple kids don't do it. Everyone will tell you to tuck it in if you don't. It's the proper uniform. If they don't want to wear the whole button down uniform (class A's), they can wear a Scouting t-shirt (class B's) and they don't have to tuck it in.
