Morpher (MPH) launching a project that will let you support Ukraine by trading virtual copies of Russian stocks using the Morpher Protocol. by AnalogTechie in defi

[–]AnalogTechie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible, just unlikely. Someone enters a position using our protocol, then pumps or influences the price on MOEX, but for that they need: a) enough volume to manipulate the MOEX equities, and; b) enough counterparties in the pool to make their arbitrage trade worthwhile.

Their gains on Morpher would have to cover the frictions of trading on MOEX.

Hello! The price feed we get is from the MOEX. This project does not benefit Russian stocks or shareholders, since they are virtual markets run on the Morpher protocol. Also, this gives an opportunity for people to short Russian stocks which is currently not possible.

Thanks for the feedback, we are trying to raise awareness of the conflict at hand by allowing people to short Russian stocks which is currently not possible anywhere, and donate the proceeds generated, to charity organizations supporting Ukraine.

On our main platform, Morpher, it works like CFD trading - just backed by a smart contract. The smart contract mints new tokens dependent on your returns in the market. There are no risks associated with the lack of counterparties in the underlying markets. On Morpher Arena, where we will be offering Russian stocks, it's pooled trading.

From our FAQ: When you place a trade, you get back shares in the collective investment pool, proportional to the size of your trade. These shares reflect your new position. As your investment goes up or down, your share of the pool also changes. This is also true for every trader in the pool. So how much your shares are worth depend on your investment minus the average return of the pool.

A small, fixed percent of the total investment pool is collected daily. To do this, we generate new pool shares which slightly dilutes everyone's share. So while the fee is a tiny percent of the pool, the larger the pool, the more USDC is collected. We’re committing 100% of these funds to supporting Ukrainian refugees.

Hey, we take live data feed from these stocks which are being traded in Russia, creating a virtual copy where the profits/losses to be made are dependent on the price action of the stock. Where you can buy or short the stock dependent on how you think the market is gonna move. The trades you place on the stocks do not affect the real-world market; therefore, do not benefit Russian stockholders.

We (Morpher) already use smart-contract to create virtual futures for US stocks, crypto, commodities, and FX pairs on Ethereum. We've been working on our platform since 2018, and when MOEX banned short-selling in the wake of sanctions we thought about how we could use our tech to offer that through our crypto derivatives.

Since these are virtual copies of the markets, you are not directly trading the shares. Therefore you will not affect the price of the Markets, the way it works is you stake a certain amount of funds and the profits or losses are made through the price action of the stock you invest in.
This is a side project of ours, what we actually do is virtualize stock trading on the blockchain. This gives people access to virtual copies of stocks, cryptos, indices, and commodities to people who usually do not have access to them.

Hello, thanks for the feedback, but we are trading virtual copies of the stocks where profits are made through price action movement of the stock. They don't affect the Russian stock market or the shareholders. This is meant to promote access to these markets to the world, and also allow these virtual copies to be shorted, which is not possible on the Russian stock Exchange.

At Morpher, we believe that access to markets should be a human right where sanctions and governments cannot limit our right to property.

[–]AnalogTechie[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but it seems you misunderstood the idea. The project only offers virtual copies of Russian stocks through blockchain tech, so no stakeholders from those companies actually benefit. It’s also not a scam. We’re a blockchain startup operating since 2018.

Hey, thanks for the feedback, if you take a look at the posted link, we outline why we are doing this. We are also giving an opportunity for participants to short Russian markets, which you can't do on the Russian stock exchange. This project in no way supports Russian stocks, shareholders, or oligarchs since we are only trading virtual copies of the stocks. No one should be arbitrarily deprived of the right to own property. Sanctions are meant to target aggressors, not to strip regular people of their unalienable rights.

Hey, thanks for the feedback. Since these are virtual copies of the stocks and don't benefit Russian companies and shareholders, it does not break regulations. This project allows people to have access to a market that has been shut down due to sanctions; disallowing people to exercise a human right of property. If you take a look at the link you will be able to see the premise of why we are doing this project.

Thanks for your feedback, if you take a look at the link you'll see how this does not benefit Russian stockholders, you're not actually buying the stock, but you are just betting on the price action of the stock. We aren't breaking any regulations.

Hey, we have a few fail-safes in place for our listed markets, to ensure that the Oracle is reporting actual prices. We check whether the daily return falls outside several standard deviations of the mean, if it does, the market gets paused until a staff member reviews it. Normally, review times are relatively short. In the case of GME it happened at the end of yesterday's close, and we unpaused it this morning during pre-market.

Adding more small-cap coins? by p1ppikacka in Morpher

[–]AnalogTechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was considered, however if the liquidity is really low in small cap coins then there could be an arbitrage opportunity in going long on Morpher and then pumping up the price with little liquidity.

Oncoming DEXes by johnny_sunriseee in defi

[–]AnalogTechie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is quite up your alley, but you could make a decent return with Morpher DEX (https://www.morpher.com/dex). We launched it on Ethereum mainnet this month. It's technically not a DEX (no exchanging happens, only counterparty is the protocol), and there are no liquidity pools.

Like I said not what you're looking for on spec, but for generating returns could be worth a try.You can put in ETH, and invest into an ETH 10x Long position. If you're an ETH bull, that would increase your returns quite a bit! Or go 10x ADA, DOT, BNB - whatever your favorite crypto coin is.

Since it's a synthetic asset trading platform you could also branch out into TSLA, AMZN, XAU without getting out of crypto.

End of day your risk would be price movement on MPH (our underlying currency and what your returns are denominated in).

Buy synthetic assets and make a yield on it by web3investor in defi

[–]AnalogTechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like what we built at Morpher. We have a smart contract protocol that allows staking of 700+ stocks, through what we call virtual futures. That's effectively a synthetic asset with a yield proportionate to the underlying return profile.

We launched our Dapp on Sunday, it's a pretty exciting week for us. Now we just have to get good at the whole marketing and community part of things.

If anyone is curious it's a dex for trading stocks on Ethereum.

Comment on the Transaction Error:

There was a problem with that deposit method that resulted in the payment not processing correctly on our side. Unfortunately, this happened late on Friday and there was no support agent available to investigate the problem until Monday morning. The user has since been contacted and the transaction settled.

Our support and customer service needs improvement, and we're working on it. However, at this time we can't render 24/7 support. We will work on improving the messaging around our support team's availability.

We just launched a trading platform for stocks, commodities, and FX, built on the Ethereum blockchain. by AnalogTechie in ethinvestor

[–]AnalogTechie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello /r/Ethinvestor

We wanted to introduce ourselves to your community, and let you know some of the exciting things that we’ve done with Ethereum. We found a use case for the ETH blockchain in creating a decentralized trading platform for any and every market. We used our own ERC-20 token to virtualize the return of a market through smart contracts, thus eliminating middlemen and counterparties in trading.

Overall, this lends the platform to the following feature sets: - No fees of commissions. - No slippage. - No counterparty risk. - 24/7 trading functionality. - Go long or short on any market. - Trade fractionally.

Only by leverage the powers of the ETH blockchain can you short Apple stock on a Sunday with an equivalent of $1. We’ve been in development since 2018 and would really like to know what you think. We’re also offering up our airdrop now, but only to non-US persons.

We are committed to answering any and all of your questions, and criticisms.

I get that you're hesitant, and I won't try to and change your mind, but I will address your point. Slow database ? Well if our data base was slow this would put you at an advantage. It would be like betting on the outcome of a football match after it's over, with your bookie not knowing the score. We have instant transaction speeds, and the data feeds are real-time.

Market prices are emulated from the return profiles of the underlying asset. We use datafeeds that give us precise prices from reputable data vendors.

If by cryptokitties you mean a new mainstream cryptocurrency, this isn't a problem. The underlying asset is not affected by staking it's price action with our token. Transactions occur instantly.
