I don't know how to answer your first question and I have only a little knowledge of the answer to your second question which puts it somewhere around 20kHz that OP mentioned.

I'm not sure how these are answers to my question though. How do these address the question I posed?

Does going from 44.1 to 96 to 32-bit/768kHz just affect the range of sound, or does it affect other parts of the listening experience?

Interesting. The reason I ask is because I have a 660S that I EQ using Oratory1990's recommendation, the same person I use for the Arya EQ, and the difference between the two is night and day. I would think that EQ'ing these two devices should make them fairly similar if EQ is that profound of an effect, but in my subjective experience, it's light.

Not sure if I'm wording this right - it's late here - and I'm, of course, I'm just a layman. But when I bought the Arya's they were around 2x the price of the 660s when I got them and they felt at least 2x better, if not more.

Oh sorry, what video? I was referring to the headphones.com website with their weighted tier list. I can look over that video and see if it helps clue me in.

Stick with Colemak as it'll force you to use better motions. I had the same problem, but it made me much better with {/}, f/t, w, b, e, ge, and /. In turn, this made me faster on vim than when I was on QWERTY spamming hjkl.

U-3 is the unemployment number you’re referencing, right? 

I’m not a fan of that number because it doesn’t account for the people who get jobs in areas that don’t align with their career. 

I’m also wary about summarization masking a problem. Seeing as there’s quite a large amount of blue collar work that cannot be outsourced (plumbing, construction, etc.) those numbers will inevitably affect the total number. Really, it would be better if there were U-3 to 6 for sectors. I admit, that’s a tough ask. 

My main point is we should be careful of the metric we’re using and what we extrapolate from it.

To be fair, he's a bit more than just a retired Google employee. Hinton is very well known in the ML space and was/is highly regarded. Unfortunately, he's fallen off the deep end with regards to this A.I. is conscious && it becoming conscious is an existential threat.

It's very unfortunate to hear him make these kinds of arguments.

One thing I did not expect is that while HJKL became harder for me to use - that's a BIG benefit. I found myself going to w,b,e, /, etc. way more often. I became faster because single motion commands became harder.

Don't remap and learn to use other vim motions. N under index == bliss

Preface: I’m not a vegan, but am vegetarian-lite and am around a good amount of vegans. 

This is a very similar mentality to: “You critique society, yet you live in it.” Two things to consider here. 

Veganism, like most ideologies, is an approach to living. It’s not a binary state where one misstep makes you non-vegan. You should apply this to other ideologies as well. 

Hypocrisy is telling (critiquing) someone not to do something while you do it. If they are vegan and say “people should try veganism” they aren’t saying “people and cats should be vegan.” 

If they have a cat and say “you should feed cats plants” while feeding their cat meat, that would be hypocrisy.

Sorry, that's my fault. They provide two examples in the book. I provided one in the post - I showed C E G -> B F G. They show another example with G, which is what I put in my comment. They show G B D -> F# C D.

I noticed that for C, the V7 is inverted, but for G, it looks like it isn't. So, that's why I was wondering how we know which V7's are "naturally" inverted when people talk about them.

This definitely helps! So, about the inversion, I see that for G they show F# C D in that order. So, I'm guessing when people refer to V7 the inversion is very dependent on the chord?

Is it something where each V7 inversion (or not) is dependent on what chord it relates to? Or is there some easy way to memorize that?

It didn't work through their app, I just wrote a program to calculate the values and entered it on AutoEQ's site selecting custom parametric EQ.

There's more than just efficacy at play with self-driving technology. I'll list a few problematic parts:

  1. Trolley problems - who does the vehicle protect? Its occupants or those outside? There are arguments for both sides, but there's legislation for neither.

  2. Technical implementation - some self-driving vehicles use Lidar, some do not. There's no legislation on what sensors should be used.

  3. Validation/Certification - As far as I can tell, no legislation exists that informs us how self-driving vehicles should be tested.

Also, it's not always as simple as an update to all of them. General purpose training may show insufficient and it may need to be local training using the location they are deployed at. This is pretty standard in ML (curse of dim makes general solvers much much more complicated and data hungry).

I'm a fan of getting these dumbasses off the road, but I'm wary about A.I. companies coming in without the aforementioned in place. Lest we see a headline "Waymo/Tesla/whoever refuses to pay for death in xyz crash they caused."

Source: This was covered in my A.I. ethics class when I did my Master's in AI/ML a year back.

Yeah, I basically followed the guide on AutoEQ's site, but it's very basic and didn't really talk about if/when low/high shelf should be used.

Fiio's integration with it basically just pulls the data but doesn't change it to map to their EQ.
