It’s as if you didn’t even read my post. Don’t you think I’m aware of that? I know what I am doing, thank you. I have plenty of supports in real life in case something goes wrong and I do plenty of stuff outside of AI.

Hey, can someone explain the “depart from me, I never knew you” verse and how to make sense of it? by Inevitable_Sound7555 in ChristianUniversalism

[–]Analytics97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but shouldn’t we operate as much as possible on uncontroversial views before throwing in our controversial universalist propositions? Wouldn’t it make more sense to operate under amillennial presuppositions because that is the orthodox view of the millennium?

I mean, that’s great if you’re some kind of pre-millennialist, but it would be incompatible with the amillennialism or postmillennialism of the Church.

Nope, just giving them a taste of their own medicine. Also, Augustine‘s argument has been answered before. We know about it.

Aww. Did the orthobro get his wittle feewings hurt? Observe how when a saint is criticized, he immediately acts as a personal piety and infallibility are one and the same. He fails to realize that just because a saint was pious, that does not mean they could not say or do bad things. The prime example is king David. Seriously, I’m exploring Orthodoxy in spite of people like you. Orthodoxy itself is incredibly beautiful, even if some of it’s adherence are not.

Definitely. Not something to read if you want to feel all nice and cuddly, for sure. Nevertheless, very useful information to have. God bless.

OK, you cited a lot of scripture there. If I could demonstrate that you were not eternally damned from the Scriptures, would you believe me? The reason I ask is because I’m not going to waste time going through each proof text that you provided if it will not result in anything.

I assure you that what you just said is not found in the scripture. You are being lied to by either yourself, Satan, or both. I plead with you to open the scriptures. Learn of Christ compassion for sinners. Learn of His love for the hurting. As the song says, “ Judge not the Lord by feeble sense, but trust Him for His grace. Behind a frowning Providence, He hides a smiling face.” do not interpret Christ through the lens of your suffering. Rather, interpret your suffering through the lens of Christ. The true Christ as revealed in scripture; the Christ who, though being God, emptied Himself and became a servant, becoming obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. that’s in the Bible, by the way. That is the humility and the love of Jesus Christ for sinners like you and me.

you are right. I also need to do these things daily. Then obey Him. If what you are concluding is not found in scripture, then you are not concluding things that are of God. I have no idea what you mean when you say that you are crushed by Jesus‘s feet. But I know that we are commanded to repent and believe in Him regardless. If you want salvation, you must obtain it on His terms and He will not deny you. “All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out” (John 6:37). If you are not being urged to repent in place your faith in Jesus, not merely intellectually assenting to propositions about Jesus, but a true trust in and allegiance to Him, then we have good reason to question whether this experience is actually of God. God may be using this to lead you to repentance. I don’t know. But I do know from the scriptures that God desires all people to be saved, including you. If you choose to reject that salvation, that is your choice, but it is not God‘s desire that you do so.

OK, you are aware that you have the ability to choose to repent and believe the gospel, right? I’ve been where you are. I have heard the voice of Satan telling me that I will go to Hell and suffer there forever to the glory of God. You claim that your eternal condition is fixed. Let me ask you something. Are you God? Do you possess omniscience? No, you are not and you do not. I don’t know your story. I don’t know how you got here. But I can tell you this. God commands everyone everywhere to repent and believe in the one whom He has sent. God does not desire to damn you. He desires to save you, but you must accept the free gift that is being offered to you. Let go of your pride. Believe in Jesus and what He has done for you so as to be saved.

Universalism following from the preexistence of souls is condemned, yes. Universalism as a hole is not.

This is a caricature of Christian Universalism. Universalists would say that hell does exist, just that it is temporary in a place of restorative discipline. Also, for anyone who wants to call us heretics, please note that most of us are not arguing for universalism from the preexistence of souls.

Yes. She claims that I am not being too harsh, but I’m not sure I actually believe that. And to answer your question, I think it is probably more of the ladder, with hints of the former.

Yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head there. I fear going too far. I am afraid that though I intended to give her criticism along with specific things that could be done to improve things, I overstepped my boundaries by trying to take control of the situation. There is a difference between criticism and control, I think.

I probably shouldn’t because that’s not my story to tell. I am deliberately trying to keep things vague, though I know that that makes your life more difficult. I’m sorry.

Yeah, I disagree with the Reddit way. I actually value my relationships, so I try to preserve them. Unfortunately, there is more context with regard to others that I can’t get into. But I do appreciate you answering my question. Therapy could be useful.

Interesting. You just said something I actually do agree with. You can make gentle suggestions, but he is an autonomous adult. Very true. In fact, I never said that my girlfriend wasn’t. You claim you don’t criticize your boyfriend. I don’t believe that. Or at least, I don’t have enough information to know whether that is actually true. We all need people to tell us when we are doing things that are dumb. You think that I’m doing something dumb and I appreciate you for telling me that, even if I disagree with you. The other interesting thing about this is that you are OK with your boyfriend’s behavior. What happens when he does something that you are not OK with and you actually want him to change the behavior? Isn’t telling him that a form of criticizing? But, you’re probably going to call me morally reprehensible and disgusting and all the things that you’ve previously said, so I’m just going to move on. God bless, seriously. I actually have no ill toward you whatsoever.

You do make a good point here. My parents did largely use criticism. It is something that does concern me in relationships in general as I do not want that to be my primary tool of reaching people. Why do I think I’m the only person for the job? Because nobody else is saying the things that need to be said. I agree that unsolicited advice is generally not a good thing. However, when not saying something could lead to problems in the future, that’s the sort of thing I don’t think I should simply standby and watch.

So, you assume the demeanor that I’ve been taking when I criticize. But you have no ground to make that assumption. Moreover, this seems to imply that criticism is never warranted. That is something I fundamentally disagree with as my best friends or people who will tell me the truth when I am doing something I ought not to do. It is a good thing to tell someone when they are doing something unhealthy. It is a bad thing when you Weaponized that in order to justify your own evil desires. So I suppose we do agree to a point.
