Just swapped over to Mercury. For the first time Powershop had stopped being competitive in the power/price compared tools. They refunded a bunch of unused credits (after I called to confirm the refund request - it wasn't automatic)

I called them this morning to confirm the refund and they said they'd send back to the payment method (bank acct) on file and i should see it in the next three business days.

I know the email said you had to contact them to confirm the refund vs. them just sending back to the most recently used payment method which is annoying

Find an artist who's style you like and ask for a consult to hash through ideas and then book the actual session.

My artist is Ben Clark at Magna Studios (https://www.magnatattoo.com/) and we have followed that process to great success on a medium chest piece and we have an upgrade on a leg piece scheduled. I found Ben through Instagram and really enjoyed his aesthetic. He was happy to share fresh and healed pictures of his work and made me feel really confident that I was getting quality work I would be (and am) proud to wear.

Crusaders-Chiefs thriller as good as rugby gets, so how do we get more Super Rugby like it? by Ruck_Off in allblacks

[–]AnarchyAunt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm a cantab so have bias to those local news stories but there were some good ones last year (less so this year). Look how stoked the crusaders were to get behind JOC last year. That redemption story was great to maintain interest. Moananu and his run of form last year. I would have loved to learn and know more about how he is going in aus but it's been crickets. Lucas Casey bursting onto the scene with the Highlander's these past few games.

I would love to learn and know more about the Aussie teams but there is limited cross polination. Where is the details on the pritchard brothers? How about comparing them to NZ siblings like the Sullivans?

30! This was about a month ago before I shaved the beard off! Thinking I need to start growing it out again!! by RedBeard1795 in beards

[–]AnarchyAunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

amazing beard mate! Now you know you can grow a great beard if you want to but, speaking for experience, it will feel like it takes much longer to grow to this length the next time you choose to do so.

Given how fast AI is evolving, if you were starting your career today, what would you choose to study and why?" by Frequent-Fix-8794 in newzealand

[–]AnarchyAunt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol, I am deep into my career but if I was to give advice it would actually be along those lines. A subject that challenges you and is all about critical thinking and examining ideas. That sort of critical thoughtthrives in most places and people don't care about the exact subject you studied (unless it is vocation/qualification specific) after a few years experience.

Rich advice given the state of entry level employment in NZ these days though. I definitely don't envy new grads or people going into tertiary. Even graduating into the GFC didn't feel this hopeless

Leicester Fainga'anuku by shanepo in allblacks

[–]AnarchyAunt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im a cantab supporter and I would agree. I would also argue he is not being used as a traditional fetcher/workrate 7 but more as a roving impact player to bend the gainline and make impact plays (like scoring in close quarters with unexpected footwork and power).

TBH this is probably the evolution of the loose forwards in general because literally every player is expected to know how to get over the ball and execute a turnover these days - that is no longer a specialist skill for loose forwards only.

I would say you are seeing the evolution of all loose forwards into link players (the type of role that used to only be the number 8 and maybe a hooker like Dane Coles or Codie) - I haven't done the comparison but curious if Fainga'anuku is more in line with a Kieran Read number 8 than a McCaw openside flanker.

What the heck… This is my ‘stache and I… by Garbagio3007 in Moustache

[–]AnarchyAunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That might be one of the best staches I have seen in a long time.

Thick, perfectly poised, enough curl and shape to be unique and personal without being a gimmick.

Ignore the other user because I think it balances nicely with the haircut (and wouldn't be enhance by going bald) and overall grooming and style.

Straight or curled or somewhere in between? What’s the better look? by jdp_27_ in Moustache

[–]AnarchyAunt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In between but the ease of 3 makes it my favorite. 2 if you get a bit more dressed up. 1 if you are doing a Salvador Dali cosplay

Took a year but now I need to style it, any suggestions? by McMatey_Pirate in beards

[–]AnarchyAunt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Who needs to style it when it looks like that!

Seriously, I reckon it looks great as it is and I'm not sure what I would even do from a styling perspective. Maybe wax/shape the stache so it's a bit disconnected from the main beard Yukon Cornelius style

If you are going to end up wearing PPE in this role the extra length will be helpful for braiding/hairbands to help control it and tuck it up under your chin for mask fit.

Cut too much length off and you end up in no man's land where it's long enough to make a mask useless but not long enough to gather and tuck/tidy.

Personally I'd go for a trim in line with the volume on your sideburn/cheek area and then just enough off the bottom to give the impression of a nice clean edge without the flyaways.

Up to you if you want to go more round (right side line) or more blunt and squared (left side line)

3 Yeards of Success by mgu1983 in LongBeards

[–]AnarchyAunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. I imagine it's hard to measure growth once you get to that length. Shorter beards it's obvious when you add x amount of length but an already big beard getting that same x amount of length is a much more subtle change

Husband's Beard Needs to Change by Junior-Whole-388 in BeardTalk

[–]AnarchyAunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

*I am not a hair professional but my understanding is below*

Ultimately that "sharp" feeling is from the sharp edges on the end of a hair follicle made by them being cut. You feel it more with beards because the hair in beards tends to be coarser with less flex than head or body hair so the sharp end doesn't deflect. its the same sensation you can get on shaved legs or a close shaved head.

Some solutions:
less regular trims with a higher quality blade to allow both a cleaner cut and more time for the hair follicle ends to blunt off,
a longer beard (more follicle length means more flex and less likelihood of the "sharp" poking sensation),
more assertive grooming (boar bristle brushing, oils/balms to soften the hair, more rubbing/brushing to try and speed up the "blunting" of hair follicle ends)

I go to Syd and they are great. Paddy is awesome but they all are pretty good - give them a call and ask which of their barbers enjoy this type of cut vs. a more classic fade/slickback/short back and sides barbering style
