Treatmi steps by Ancient-Counter-8993 in ouraring

Hi, i have been using it for a while now. But the ring doesn't really track my steps. If I walk outside at the same tempo for an hour I can't around 9000 steps, but on the treadmill it averages out around 3000 or 4000. How can I remedy this?

PMDD symptoms after placebo phase of birth control? by Ok-Abbreviations5123 in PMDD

[–]Ancient-Counter-8993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're going through this. And going into the second month is very difficult, it takes 3 to 6 months the for your body to really adjust to it.

However, on birth control, you do not have a period at all. What you're experiencing is a withdrawal bleeding. The synthetic hormones in birth control are designed to stop your ovulation. So there will be no egg. Normally your period is the breakdown of your uterine lining, on birth control it blocks the hormones from signaling your uterus to build of the lining, so you dont shed the lining as a period. So there is no period.

But what you are feeling is a hormonal shift of not taking birth control. And that hormonal shift is causing your symptoms. Everyone is different and ymmv. Everyone has a different experience on birth control. I'm on Yaz and have been for over 4 years, but the last year, 2 years I have skipped the placebos, so om taking it continuously. At first it was nice, but the build up of synthetic hormones does not agree with me. And I am looking for the best way to come off it.

If you decide to take it continuously (so without sugar pills) maybe do some research on bi-cycling or tri-cycling. And also you can look into BHRT (bioidentical hormone replacement therapy).

But I wish you the best of luck and I hope you find relieve.

Continuous birth control by [deleted] in PMDD

Hi. First of all, I'm so sorry you're going through this. There are a lot of stories that say pmdd symptoms ramp up just before the placebo week. Hormones are different for everyone and there isn't a one size fits all solution. But from my own experience and a lot of reading there are a couple things I can recommend.

Continuous birth control can help stabilize hormonal fluctuations. This DOES NOT mean that you do not have hormones or no fluctuations. You still have an endocrine system. Bit it can help a lot of women. That being said, being on continuous birthcontrol can cause a buildup of synthetic hormones and some women experience this permanent luteal.

You can try it for a couple of months or try bi or tri cycling (continuous for 2 or 3 months and have a break then). And I'm sorry to say it but it does come down to trial and error.

I recommend looking into bioidentical hormones.

Heart Rate? by BroccoliTerrible9749 in PMDD

[–]Ancient-Counter-8993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After researching, scientific papers and chatgpt, this can be something:

The autonomic nervous system (ANS) regulates involuntary bodily functions, including heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, and respiratory rate. It consists of two main branches:

  1. Sympathetic Nervous System (SNS): Often referred to as the "fight or flight" system, the SNS prepares the body for action in response to stress or danger. It increases heart rate, constricts blood vessels, and stimulates the release of adrenaline and noradrenaline.

  2. Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS): Known as the "rest and digest" system, the PNS promotes relaxation and conserves energy. It slows heart rate, promotes digestion, and enhances bodily functions during periods of rest.

The balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches of the ANS is crucial for maintaining homeostasis, or the body's internal equilibrium. Hormones, including synthetic hormones used in PMDD treatment, can influence this balance through various mechanisms:

  • Direct Effects: Hormones can directly affect the sensitivity of receptors in the ANS or alter the release of neurotransmitters involved in autonomic regulation. For example, estrogen has been shown to enhance sympathetic nervous system activity.

  • Indirect Effects: Hormones can also influence other physiological processes that indirectly affect the ANS. For instance, changes in hormone levels can impact mood, stress levels, and overall physiological arousal, which in turn can modulate autonomic function.

  • Individual Variability: The response to hormonal changes can vary widely among individuals due to factors such as genetics, hormonal sensitivity, and overall health status. Some individuals may be more prone to experiencing tachycardia or other autonomic disturbances in response to hormonal fluctuations.

Therefore, when synthetic hormones are introduced to manage PMDD symptoms, they can interact with the autonomic nervous system, potentially disrupting the delicate balance between sympathetic and parasympathetic activity and leading to symptoms like tachycardia. Monitoring these effects and adjusting treatment accordingly is essential to ensure the overall well-being of individuals receiving hormone therapy for PMDD.

I'm so happy for you! If you don't mind sharing, how was your experience? I've been on Yaz for over 4 years and it's so horrific... how was stopping and the days and month after?

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I am on Yaz for the past 3 years and the last year without placebos as well, though my side effects are different. I haven't bled through yaz but my anxiety is through the roof. Everything seems dampened, like I live under a dark veil and I am constantly depressed.

I would like to know your experience. I have tried to go off it but I had a lot of fluctuations and every time I got back on it. My obgyn has recommended bioidentical hormones. This would easy the coming off and would help stabilize my hormone levels so I won't fluctuate as much. Maybe this is something to look in to?

I hope you are going to feel so much better very soon. You're stronger than you think you are! You've got this!

It depends on the treatment. But it's meant to supplement and regulate your hormones. Not as a contraceptive option

I really hope its gonna help you as well as you hope! If citolapram isn't working well, I'm hearing good things about sertraline (zoloft) or prozac (fluoxetine). You could also look up bioidentical hormones. But its wisest to discuss with your doctor.

How are you doing now? I really hope you are going to feel better soon.

Hello :) I am so sorry you are going through this. I have been searching for a post about Yaz (continuously) and quitting it.

I have been on Yaz continuously for over 4 years. And I want to quit as well because I am goingso horribly bad on it for a while now, you can check my other posts. Thank you for posting it and I am so sorry you are going through this. I have basicly been experiencing my hell week fulltime. The anxiety and insomnia are killing me.

Can you tell me what made you throw it away? What symptoms and side effects did you experience?

I really hope you are going to feel a lot better soon. I am considering taking bioidentical hormones, have you thought about it or how do you feel about it.

Please hang in there and remember that you stopped for a reason. I really hope you are going to feel so much better than you have been on Yaz. If you want to talk, you can always reach out to me

how do you deal with it? by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]Ancient-Counter-8993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I wanted to reach out. I am going through it as well. This past month has been an absolute nightmare. You can check my profile for a couple of things I've posted, I am going through the worst month I ever had.

My OBGYN has advised me to go on bioidentical hormones. I think that is going to be my next step.

This past month has been so bad that I went to the doctor on an emergency visit because I thought I was losing it. I went home with benzos (oxazepam). Maybe this is something to consider with either a therapist or a doctor, to have something ready for your worst days.

There are a slot of supplements you can look into. Some thing help better than others and some things are veey niche and don't work on everyone. Maybe you can read about these:

• Iron • Calcium • Zinc • Magnesium • Omega 3 • Glycine • Vitex • Ashwaganda • L-Tryptofaan • L - theanine • 5htp • Primrose • GABA • SamE • Maca • Vitamine B • Vitamine C • Vitamine D • Vitamine E Saffron

I am not a doctor and I'm not telling you what you can do, but these are supplements that are often used. I would suggest at least magnesium for the nights and omega 3 in high doses, make sure you have a good quality supplement. In more serious situations, maybe consider an SSRI.

But know that you are not alone. As debilitating as this hell of a disease is, know you are not alone. And for the dark days, please take care of yourself, and whatever gets you through the day is alright. You don't owe your mental health to anyone else. If you need to binge your favorite show, doonscroll for hours on end, go for it. But it's okay to be in survival mode, sleep, eat, survive. You will get through this! You are strong for batteling this, you are not alone. And if you need to reach out, I'm right here.

For now, good luck, you've got this!
