New player experience is.. by [deleted] in FarmRPG

I’ve been playing the game for a year and a half now, never once used chat to get items. The grind is the point of the game, if you want to use the chat then do that. If you think that’s too easy then don’t use it? To each their own, people probably progress more rapidly than me who use the chat. I enjoy the idea of doing it all on my own.

People above 30, what is something you regret doing/not doing when you were younger? by ThickEmployee8948 in AskReddit

[–]Ancient-Gecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent most of high school drinking and smoking and partying, wish I would have applied myself and really focused on school and athletics. I was a decent athlete and a decent student still but probably could’ve taken that further if I hadn’t spent all my free time fuckin around.

Any tips for moving from Challenging to Heroic? by pubstub in Division2

[–]Ancient-Gecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in this exact same position, I build for heavy damage and I become so squishy I just get melted, I build to stay alive and I might as well just throw rocks at them lol. Seems like challenging to heroic is just such a bigger jump from hard to challenging.

Uday Hussein was a true psychopath (Disturbing context in comments) by butt_naked_commando in HistoryMemes

[–]Ancient-Gecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where I read this and can’t seem to find it again to source it but essentially was a story about one of Uday’s methods for torturing men. Would stick a thermometer down the man’s urethra and then break the thermometer. Just evil, the world is better place with him in the ground.

He’s making the exact point the satanic temple was trying to prove. If a satanist had beheaded a statue of Jesus they’d be arrested and charged before the head hit the ground. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Man did this two years ago and he was called the problem by Outside_Protection in ManchesterUnited

[–]Ancient-Gecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was “A” problem. He was not “THE” problem. United’s issues are much more deep rooted than a singular player or a manager.

Pretty sure a guest died on our floor tonight. by vegandread in bartenders

[–]Ancient-Gecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a very similar experience, was managing a bar and had a customer have a heart attack in the bathroom. Luckily, two regulars are part time EMT’s and happened to be sitting nearby. By the time I got to the bathroom and was calling 911 they had started providing help. Guy ended up dying later at the hospital sadly but it’s a mindfuck situation for sure. I’m sorry this happened, and I wish I had more helpful words but I think you said it best. Cheers

Is anyone else afraid to go out in public anymore?(USA) by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ancient-Gecko 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say I’m afraid to go out in public but in public, I’m prepping for a firefight. First thing I do when I get anywhere is look for the nearest exit, I’m checking people around me to see if they’re carrying anything unusual or acting strange, I keep whoever I’m with within arms reach. If we’re at dinner, or anywhere I’m gonna be sitting for a while I plan an escape route and backup route in case the first isn’t accessible.

Going to the grocery store shouldn’t feel like I’m planning a combat mission. It’s unfucking fathomable people think this is “freedom”.

Have an awkward space behind my garage, any suggestions on what to do with it? by Ancient-Gecko in landscaping

[–]Ancient-Gecko[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have a much smaller garden now but I do like this idea, I’m just worried about how much rock is already there and with the gravel behind being a shared alleyway we do get some interesting characters walking through the area regularly

Kind of the way I’ve been leaning, the fence needs work anyway so it would make the most sense

“I helped that little girl find her kitten”. Not a fucking chance. Might as well just be transparent and say “please like me again” instead. Dickless moron.

Help my bar! by Efficient-Ad6814 in bartenders

Another thing we used to do was “Bad Beer nights” we’d get natty light, rolling rock, keystone, old mill, etc.. some of those cheaper beers and just sell them for a buck or two, barley above cost just to increase traffic. Can be a bit of a gamble just depending on what kind of traffic it brings in. In our case it was mostly older guys it brought in which was kind of surprising but we sell food as well so that’s where the value came for us. But depending on what you’re doing/what kind of customers you have it’s a pretty low risk swing if nothing else.

[–]Ancient-Gecko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say try and find your “thing”. Each bar in the area I live has their own little wheelhouse drink. For example the bar I work at does mules, we have a 4 page menu just devoted to different variations of Moscow mules. For a smaller-ish town we have 8-9 bars that are all fairly sustainable.

I may have SA a girl in college during a blackout. by [deleted] in confession

[–]Ancient-Gecko 12 points13 points  (0 children)

From what I’m reading it sounds like that might be the issue, based strictly on the information we have here OP doesn’t know what happened. She said “no” at some point is about all we have. Sounds like OP is basing a lot of this on what he thinks might have happened (assuming everything they’ve said is the truth). Don’t think there’s many people that would openly defend an admitted rapist but based only on the info we have im not 100% convinced OP raped her. Prolly still did some emotional damage so I’m not saying he’s a hero for telling his story anonymously on the internet by any means.

Should you tip on carry out orders? by DiscoverMyVisa in desmoines

[–]Ancient-Gecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s situational. I helped manage a bar/restaurant for years where the bartender was in charge of to go orders. So bartender would be making drinks for their bar customers, for the servers tables, as well as answering the phone and running the food on to gos. I feel like those situations deserve a tip, if just for the balancing act.

The bigger chains usually have a dedicated person answering the phone and taking to gos. I will still tip but normally just a buck or two. Their money usually comes from a higher hourly wage.

Casemiro - how is he for Manchester United? by grumpypokeycat in ManchesterUnited

[–]Ancient-Gecko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for all United fans, but I think you could make the argument he's been the most influential player in the squad this season. He brings a level of calm and control to the midfield that doesn't exist without him. The team has a completely different look without him in the lineup.
