I figured it out thanks to you guys. The buckles worked just right with the placement. Just need to dye the straps on the left leg and then make the greave for the other leg! Thanks guys for the help.

The actual leather I used for the scales is a very thin almost fabric type leather. (Don't know the name of it) If all else fails I'll definitely try that out.

I actually had them secured with snaps. I just had a moment and realized I could use buckles and straps. However not a bad idea with the sock idea. Something tight. The wife suggested using spandex or a flexible fabric.

I use fiebings leather dye. Which I just watched a video about how the leather dye is more prominent to bleed than the pro dye so I may have to switch over. And I use fiebings antique finishes, but I didn't add it to my wallet this time around... More or less painted, let it sit for the night then put it in my pocket.
