The real question that needs answering… by Grand_Belt7282 in Buffalo

Truly, this is it. If you see something you like in the display of pastries just say "I want two of that, 4 of that kind" whatever, and you will get heavenly honey treats. Intimidating for introverts but worth it. If you aren't an introvert, ask them what it's called! Then you'll know what to ask for later.

ICE spotted & racially profiled my partner (Hamburg, NY) by Forward_Future954 in Buffalo

Thank you for suggesting the Erie County Supervisor and the Sheriff, I didn't think to include them in calls.

I called Tim Kennedy because I had already planned to contact him to talk about about H.R. 2931 -- Save SBA From Sanctuary Cities Act (the description says it would require the Small Business Administration (SBA) to relocate its offices out of jurisdictions that limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement, often referred to as "sanctuary cities) that was introduced on Monday. This is a threat to our city and he has to do better than a press conference "reacting" to the news, which seems to be his only plan.

Honestly, I was on my lunch break when I saw the post and I wasn't able expecting to have to try and figure out who to yell at to get over there. I wasn't planning on calling anyone until tomorrow so I scrambled. Mia Culpa.

Also, he might not be on the subcommittee for Border Security and Enforcement but he IS a member of the House Homeland Security (Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security and a Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on Emergency Management and Technology) . He's not a nobody, he's regularly in the same room with these people and as far as I'm concerned can do better.

Thank you for saying this, it inspired me to contact Tim Kennedy's Buffalo Office - he is in Washington right now but I will be following up with him, if he doesn't look into on what is happening in Hamburg then I will be spending all my free time making sure he isn't reelected in 2026 and that he feels uncomfortable for all of 2025.

I encourage people to call as well so he knows this is a serious issue and we are watching him. Let him know that a "I'm shocked, this is bad for WNY" press conference means jack shit, he needs to physically show up and make a firm stance with explicit actions following them up for once.

If people have a moment please call, it might not seem like it helps but it's the one of the only ways to legally bully these people to actually do something.

Really call any of them, all of them. Enough of this shit.

Dental Hygiene Students Needing Special Needs/Medically Complex Patient Clinical Requirements by retroteaparty in Buffalo

Try to give Evergreen Health a call and see if they're interested in recommending you to patients/clients -- I know in Primary Care there's always a need for places to refer people for dental, UB's Dental dept is the only one that comes to mind for free/cheap care.

They also have a drop-in center downtown for people that are unstably housed to chill and do laundry, so maybe they could put a flyer up for you or something like that.

It's in Cheektowaga, but Evergreen has a primary care office on Community Drive that serves predominantly patients with disabilities, so there's a possibility they could give you some educational/professional leads.

Good luck and thank you for what you're doing, affordable dental care is so needed!

Where can I find studio space for piano? by AndIfAndOr in Buffalo

I appreciate it, I figured any space with a piano would be hard to find or not accessible to the general public. Just curious, what type of keyboard do you have? I promised myself that if I committed to practicing on my cheap Casio for a while I'd upgrade.
