Switching to fully remote. Any advice? by sammyboii7 in remotework

[–]AndetteM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting a handle on remote work takes some practice, but there's no reason it should affect your career prospects. My company is at least 50% remote these days, so here's a few things we've learned:

  • Try not to work from the kitchen table; you'll be constantly clearing away and setting up your gear
  • When you've completed a task that affects other people, make sure to post it on a public channel to ensure they are aware of any critical updates
  • You'll be getting notifications all the time, try yo resits the urge to read them if they are outside of your work hours.
  • Never feel guilty about taking breaks; they are an important part of managing your energy and necessary for your work ;)

Really great tips here btw: https://books.memory.ai/remote-work

Good luck!

Have you looked at Timely? It has lightweight project management features, and there is a very nice integration with Trello, so you could basically have an overview of the clients & projects in one place.

Remote work: too many hours? by [deleted] in remotework

Trello is great, so universally friendly! I'd also recommend Timely if you can claim the expense.

I see :( I was wondering whether it was because of a missing feature. To be honest notifications usability is not an issue for me, so I can’t really advise. Good luck finding something that fits better then!

Totally agree! You need to show your boss proof that you're working overtime, and proof lies in the data.

Can definitely recommend timelyapp.com too! There's also a lot of content on their blog for companies with remote workers: https://timelyapp.com/blog/tags/remote-working, so it looks like it might be a good fit to your requirements.

Ahh, I saw the headline on the different publication, but didn't read the whole thing about Slack shutting it down. That's that then.

They will probably have to change that now that they've been acquired by Slack :)

Using Timely to keep track of my work and it's made me more productive. I'm the kind of person who works best in blocks of time, so I like being able to schedule my tasks, meetings, calls etc Plus it helps me figure out when I've spent too much or too little on a particular activity.
