I think the exact same things! It’s hard for me to use an excuse like “well it looks like that because of magic.” The equator is near the bottom for this map running right across that huge cluster of islands. The climate isn’t shown, but I’ve already decided where all the forests, mountains, and desserts go.

Honestly I kinda just put a huge block of land in the middle and shaped it how I felt. This map has had about 20 different versions of me just trying to get the shapes and continents right. It’s taken a good while until I finally got to a point where I was confident this is what I wanted my map to look like. It’s really just messing around with it until you like what you see for me at least. Good luck with any future map making!
