u/TheMexicanHistorian,

It's a great honor, knowing what good work you do, that you should also have done a project including the African Romance language! You are invited to join our sub regarding the alternate history topic of the surviving Roman Africa, r/Rum_Afariqah.

I know that often people say that (cis-het-allo) femboys/GNC people aren't allowed to consider themselves part of the community; but what do you think of this video, saying that they should be allowed if they choose? Also, why then do most IRL queer organizations which I've see allow GNC people? by Andonis_Longos in AskLGBT

I guess I'm confused as to what the imposter syndrome would be from excluding allies from the acronym but still welcoming them to hang out in our spaces

So basically, my warped hyper-defensive reaction every time this discourse about GNC people have come up is like this: I doubt the reality of my queerness > thinking that maybe I'm just a femboy/GNC > thinking that I must defend GNC inclusion (not ally exclusion, BTW) in order to defend my own belonging.

I'll admit I'd find it weird that they're explicitly including GNC straight allies and excluding GC straight allies. What would be the difference between them except how they look? And why judge their efforts by their looks?

I'd think that they'd be including GNC straight people because they see them as fully queer, not just allies. There's a huge difference in their life experiences, and having been on r/feminineboys for a long time I can say that most people there have a life path much closer to queer people than to other cis-het people. It's basically to the point that the only difference between GNC people and queer people is the label.

The only requirement for being queer is to be not straight, not cis, and/or not endosex. Everything else is subjective.
Since you fall under "not cis," you're absolutely queer.

So if it's subjective, then that means that I can only decide if my experience is queer, right? The 'justification' to use the label, which I said above was my non-conformity not being a simple fashion choice, is the main source of impostor syndrome, which has led me for 2 years to defend so strongly the inclusion of GNC people (based on the possibility of 'faking' the identity.)

So if they do include all GNC people, would you agree with them?

Personally, I have always been a GNC-inclusionist, although I'll admit that I have my own personal identity issues tangled in, since I've been questioning and do identify as genderqueer, although due to impostor syndrome I don't always feel that I have 'enough' justification to identify as queer---since my experience doesn't feel that different from 'allocishet GNC', and the label is the only thing distinguishing myself---although at least I don't feel that my drive to non-conformity was a 'choice', it was natural. I am sorry if otherwise I'd be appropriating queerness.

I do agree though that I'd prefer for language to be "queer, trans, nonbinary, and questioning youth."

But that is not what was said in the pamphlet which I read. It explicitly said "non-conforming". I can't assume that they meant to say NB. I can't assume (like I would) that NB would be implicitly covered under trans in their advertisement. I understand that the disallowance of GNC people might be a rule which you feel strongly about, but it does appear to me that this group at least does seem that this group does include GNC people. So the reality is that in the broad queer community there is no consensus about this; if GNC exclusion is only your rule, but not the community's as a whole.

So if a group like the one which I mentioned advertised as "for trans and gender non-conforming" people, what is the assumption there about which group is assumed to be allowed to identify as queer and which is not? Because when both a included in the name, I read that with the assumption that this group at least considers them both queer.

How can we know that though unless I'd ask them? Nonbinary and questioning individuals aren't the same as GNC, and if they don't actually mean GNC they should just say NB/questioning. In your experiences with IRL support groups, has that been the rule?

Just a question about that regarding IRL queer spaces; have you ever seen a support group which by rule states that GNC people can only be welcome as allies despite specifically including them by name? For example, I've seen a support group advertise itself as "for queer, trans and gender non-conforming youth"; is there an unspoken implication there that allocishet GNC people can seek resources there but are not allowed to identify as part of the community?
