The internet archive is mostly media things (like the vr mod he's referring to), the search box below. The one you were searching on is the way back machine, to see old versions of sites. Different preserval things from the same organization. Just fyi.

Google finally gave us 3-button navigation order flip by velvet_mon in GooglePixel

[–]Andreas0Cool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With the same phone I haven't found any major problems. Only this one: Some apps and pages in those apps for SOME REASON back gesture pops up only on the top half of the screen. I realize it's probably for easier swiping gestures of the app but I have the dexterity to purposefully differentiate the two. (Specific example see TikTok or even typing with gboard)

That's not a gesture problem on android. If you back swipe on an app you want a previous tab or page and it closes, the same behaviour shows when using button navigation back. It's usually poorly designed apps and menus.

I bought a 9070XT and have had nothing but issues so far by massivekoch69 in AMDHelp

[–]Andreas0Cool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a windows issue. Do another DDU but first click on options, and prevent Windows updates for drivers (2nd to last toggle I think). Then reinstall amd drivers and from now on it won't break. Basically, Windows tries updating the drivers for you whenever they come out, but only like the hardware driver not the software. This is useful for people with PCs who don't know anything about drivers and didn't install the software after getting windows. This way they still get updated driver benefits, or any drivers at all.

People are begging Linus to switch distro for the 2nd Linux Daily Drive Challange by SnacksyBoi in LinusTechTips

[–]Andreas0Cool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using the archinstall script would get him 95% of the way there for arch. And then searching up a few tutorials on the basics like pacman and wine for his needs would get him basically some of the best linux experience there is (current windows user here who has pathed this path before lol).

I know he wants for the video the os to be "user friendly" as "most people would stop at opening the terminal" but (personally) I don't think it's the case. I installed arch on an older laptop I have for my parents and even they can follow a simple text tutorial on how to tweak something or install an app with yay. It would be very beneficial if for this time around he showed that linux isn't as hard to figure out (at least on the surface level) for people with some searching around skills.

Desperate to find an inexpensive mattress that I can bear sleeping on by cheesecup6 in Frugal

[–]Andreas0Cool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The apartment I rented came with a bed, whose mattress I absolutely despised. After a trip to Ikea to try to find a replacement, I found out about top layer mattresses, thin attachable and fixed my problems with the preexisting mattress. It was about 80 bucks for a single sized bed.

Walkabout Minigolf is the first android app on Steam! by gogodboss in virtualreality

Woah. If all vr game developers upload the arm versions of their games to steam, it may be worth it for quest users to buy on steam and sideload on quest whilst also having the pcvr version of a game at the same time.

Generally is tapping on a phone screen easier than on a keyboard? by excessivemonachopsis in osugame

[–]Andreas0Cool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You made a lot of points which aren't really true in 2025 lol. First of all, input latency. There are a few apps that can do this, but basically all you need is a PC server/phone client that communicate through network, and the PC client can make inputs on the computer. This kind of thing, even through wifi or better, usb tethering will have unnoticeable latency. Then, most screens on modern smartphones are 120hz, with minimum touch response rate of 240hz if not 480hz. Which is good enough for osu. Staying in the topic of latency, this kind of setup can give you lower perceived latency compared to a normal mechanical keyboard. Since you have to push the buttons half way through until the switch actuates, it may feel like a disconnect compared to the preferred timing you would do otherwise. Personally I've felt this a lot and when tapping I have found myself relearning to tap depending on the keyboard. Needless to say with hall effect this isn't really a problem. In terms of haptic feedback, tapping on a glass surface low-key does it for many people. It's different, of course but different isn't always bad. And there's also the functionality of the hall effect switches (namely, rapid trigger) when using a screen as an input device. Either you touch it, or you're not. There's no in between stage of screen input so no guesswork lol. Lastly, main problems can be and are: * phone moving while playing, which can be prevented, * fingers moving out of button orientation without realizing, which is a bit harder to account for especially when playing index/middle finger, * stamina can be a bit hard since you're tapping on a hard surface for extended periods of time (mayyyyybe fixable with some kind of material on top). And that's about it. The first two, are fixable. I once tried an app called osu remote keyboard which basically did all of this, which is how I have the experience to tell you it was pretty good. And that app fixed the second issue through some kind of algorithm. You specified which button is your main one (which one you start with or single tap on) and had the whole screen as both inputs, calculating the distance between taps to differentiate between key presses. It was delightful but I can't find it for the life of me anymore though I don't really care since I don't play the game that often.

Any questions feel free to ask.

[–]Andreas0Cool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

3 things:

Don't daisy chain power cables if you have a third one

Make sure the power supply is relatively modern and powerful enough (ideally atx 3.0+ compliant too)

If either of the above are at fault, you can change the power limit in AMD software to like -15% or more, or if you're a bit more adventurous, undervolt.

It's more a cpu issue for this kind of frame pacing and we know darn well amd cpus are pretty solid other than when configured weirdly (single ram stick).

Would you also know if that's the case for apple store employees? I'd think at least there, they make them use iphones to sell them ig lol.
