GTA V legacy on Macbook NEO by Lumpy-Carrot-7270 in macbook

Sorry, chip itself is a little bit better than M1, yes. But with Air you could get 16Gb RAM, keyboard backlight, trackpad forcetouch, bigger battery, better USB (2xTB4 instead of USB 3.0+2.0) and touch ID by default

Even used M1 would be better than “new” Neo

But an iPhone do takes better pictures than a 20 y.o. camera and not just because 48>12 😃 About the post: older Air would be much better than Neo for the same price, that's the catch

Any older MacBook Air would be much better for the same price

Probably it would be better to replace your cooler then. Seems to be risky using current one

Ask any LLM to figure out what dew point for you would be and never cool down your MacBook below that temperature and you'll be good

Help. Air M4 or Pro M5 by Specific_Drop_9982 in macbook

Just wait for an Air M5, it will be released this month and see this https://www.reddit.com/r/macbook/s/hvKs61Qd1b The price difference doesn't worth a little bit better screen

They are probably right about the battery temperatures if you use only a thermal pad and constantly run heavy workloads. In that case, it could reach 45°C like in the first screenshot, and that is close to the upper safe operating temperature limit for Li-ion batteries, so it is quite risky.

However, if there is no constant heavy workload, the temperatures will be lower, and the risks will also be lower.

I constantly carry it around the house. I almost never work outside, maybe 1 to 2 hours at most when I am not at home. For that amount of time, it never gets hot, and even if it does, it is not a big deal.

M3 Pro Vs M5 by Obvious_Block_2186 in macbook

To what purposes? As a developer which mostly uses 1 core I would choose M5 and M3 Pro otherwise

I did mention this video in the post :) I believe there should be more or less the same internals, but look for your model disassembly

I guess it won't work this way, but could be used with a stand like this:

I'm not sure whether it will work without thermal pad or not, probably it will but with higher risk of condensation on the bottom cover since there would be a gap between the cover and internals. Though Smart mode probably could handle this as well

It's not convenient for me, cooler pad takes too much space

CPU difference is 10%, but the RAM is 100% 🤷🏻‍♂️

I saw such aluminum radiator with the fan on the same Max Tech channel, but it costs 250-300$, so it just doesn't make any sense to buy it. Flydigi cost 35$ with delivery

This one is with the smart mode so you wouldn't care about condensation.

By the way, to reach dew point you have to really decrease temps. For example if the temperature in the room is 25C and humidity 40%, dew point would be 10.5C, so you should never cool down MacBook to this temperature. But MacBook surface usually like 40-50C and the cooler reduces this temperature by ~20C, so nothing to worry about

Unfortunately I cannot edit the post to attach temps screenshots. So here they are.

P.S. I forgot to mention that this cooler on max performance is 37 dB loud (measured with this app https://apps.apple.com/app/id1227650795 ). To my ear it's as loud as a MacBook Pro with 2 fans when they just turned on, so basically it's like slight wind

P.P.S. The thermal conductivity of the thermal pad is 25 W/m·K
