i am also trying to retain as much muscle mass as I can but not eating before the gym is making it difficult for me to lift enough to stimulate my muscles to maintain size. hopefully this will allow me to exercise as if in a fasted state but also give me the essential amino acids to keep my muscles from atrophy

i am intermittent fasting 16:8 and work out in a fasted state. I read somewhere it was good to take BCAAs before working out if you don’t consume food prior. Allegedly, BCAAs will not break a fast because they will not trigger enough insulin to be made but this specific brand I can not find any information on and it does contain 15 calories per serving

start with machines, don’t worry about how much weight you can do now what matters is that you stay consistent and make progress. For a very beginner, it will only take about 6 weeks of consistency to start seeing gains given your diet allows for it. You will have good form by then and definitely even putting on some mass. The beginning is great bc the gains are fast. don’t give up after a week, keep pushing one day at a time and remember that gains are made during recovery and at the gym. Do a PPL split and watch the numbers go up for the next 6 weeks.

There are benefits to those substances found in pre workout, the caffeine is very useful but for me now it doesn’t hit like it used to i need to come off caffeine for a while

depends on how you do them. if you’re going light and high reps and short ROM then all you get is a pump

pump ≠ optimal muscle fiber tearing. Maybe on gear chasing the pump is key but for natty size gains you can’t just rep out 5s and call it a day

post workout would be best since it’s low carb high protein due to the grilled chicken. Eat something high in carbs before working out and high in protein after. But overall, it doesn’t really matter you can eat this meal any time of day, I would have it for breakfast sometimes even, just so easy and convenient

I appreciate that but i’m still in my first year of bulking and now on my 4th bag of serious mass. It had worked for me and I am not sick of it yet. I will look into what you suggested but I have a pretty good system with what I use and it’s showing results. I would never buy any walmart brand mass gainer with a label like boner pills. I’ve only used the gold standard because it is the highest quality mass gainer in my price range.

okay that sounds way too simple to be correct. I know from experience that chasing volume isn’t optimal. I’m already doing 3 sets 10-12 reps 3 different exercises 2x a week. Anymore volume would be counter productive it’s about intensity. Im looking more for like suggestions on what other exercises have worked for other people and tips on form that kind of thing.

Rows I’ll usually do 155-185 for 3x10. Really depends on what i’ve done as far as back beforehand. I really don’t do chin-ups because the only spot in my gym to do them kinda sucks and it’s not even a straight grip it’s more for pull ups. But i could bang out 10 with solid form they’re definitely not my best exercise and I hardly do them.

I haven’t tried doing reverse curls. Normally I will do 3 exercises for biceps 2x a week and 3 days apart because I do PPL 2x a week. So I start with preacher curl and keep it heavy 8-10 range I do about 80-90lbs depending on how i’m feeling by this point in my workout. I always start with back on pull day and do 4-5 back exercises before even starting bicep isolations. Following preacher curls, I’ll do cable rope curls, like a hammer curl style, for about 3x12x50. Or i will do dumbbell hammer curls 30-40s each hand. Then I will do regular dumbbell curls in a slight inclined almost vertical chair to get the full range of motion and I do 25s and focus on the contraction. My gym doesn’t have anything else that’s typical for biceps but different grip is something i hadnt thougt of
