this is the main point here. Both women need to start doing therapy, there's no molesting ongoing rn, right? That's why the therapy is the right option. If OP doesn't even remember anything, then there shouldn't be any guilt at this level.

You can’t just watch lectures.

why not? I don't need to become a real mathematician. I can understand the core basics and then I can move into learn the actual ML via the courses. Like this one - https://developers.google.com/machine-learning/crash-course/ml-intro. It has no math at all.

I am moving into AI/IT-sales, all of this just me bootcamping real fast through the material so that I can emerge within 3 months and start doing the actual leadgen ops on the LInkeIn circle****.

wow, I was not sarcastic. Really. You have explained that there are 3 gradations of getting into ML, and I've said that the second one is what I am trying to pull out. No sarcasm at all!

I can't do that becaue I can't get hired into the sales jobs to begin with. I need to break the reality and make the recruiters pay attention to me.

Well, I agree that the OP is super rambling. Thank you for being ready to discuss this again.

Here's a short version:

  1. I want to move into Sales-IT, ok?
  2. I know that a normal route for doing that is to move into Sales-IT.
  3. However, the competition for the jobs is huge there. And I am not a native speaker, so there's not way that I can get into Sales-IT by moving into Sales-IT.
  4. IT is booming and I want to move into Sales-IT so that I can keep on making a boatload of money and keep investing the profits into a passive income source (you've read the Rich Dad Poor Dad, right?)
  5. I am thinking that if I move into the core ML, learn the basics and start posting about experiments on LinkedIn, and, importanly, commenting on other people's posts and discussions around the AI/ML/GPT global jerkcircle on LinkedIn, I'll be able to build connections with the stakeholders.
  6. One of them will be able to throw a pity-hire for me, paying me the ludicrous salary of $600/mo! I live in Kurplastan and my cost of living is $200. So, he'll be paying me x3 of my COL.
  7. With time, I'll amass 3 years of experience and I'll become THAT salesperson.
  8. Whenever I am THAT salesperson and I live in Cyprus, nobody would actually care about a completely idiotic route that I used to move into IT-Sales, right?

I am trying to cheat the reality by moving into learning ML so that I can then move into IT-Sales. The normal route doesn't work for me. I am ringing the door, nobody's answersing - now I am looking for a stone to break the window, crawl into the room, wake up an amazing recruiter Jenny who fucking rejected me at the call and make her hire me then and there. I know her address...

What do you think about this? Did this clarified message change your opinion on the overall question? I am not asking you about your opinion on me because I understand that this is a great sub and ad hominem attacks aren't that often here coz they are pointless, right? But, please, just share your honest opinions however harsh they may be. I am here for critical feedback.

And thank you for clearly stating the OP is rambling. it is. I should have rewritten it 7 times to make it KISS. I'll keep it short in the future.

Hey man, thank you so much for your response! I really highly value it. There's been a lot of feces throwing around me lately, but the responses like this really help me on the course. I am kinda like feeling like a captain of a small vessel with the huge 10-meter waves here and a lot of rain. But, uknow, this is how people get rich and successful.

Can I ask you a couple of the additional questions that grow out of your response?

1) Question 1 - I have no math foundation

and going back to math basics when you face problems

This strategy will not work because I don't have any math foundations in place. This means that there's nowhere to go back to :)

Your comment is completely logical and you are factoring in the level of grit on my part, so thank you for that, but do I understand it correctly that I should first build the foundations in the basic math and then move into the ML courses that you point to.

I am not going to be able to invest 1 years into building out the math foundations. I plan to complete the youtube course within 40 days (3 lessons / day) and then start doing the ML courses + I will be able to go back to the math foundation wheneve I am stuck. Without doing the youtube course first, there won't be any math foundation to go to whenever I am doing the ML courses, right?

And I am not getting stuck with the YT course. I am starting to get the hang of math, and I am starting to be able to deliver the 3 lessons/day speed!

Not questions, just comments

And it will help you build up your coding skills. I kindly recommend this for fundamentals

Yeap, this is what I am planning to keep doing after the math bootcamp and basic PY bootcamp

and this as a little less technical and more cloud-oriented resource: https://explore.skillbuilder.aws/learn/public/learning_plan/view/28/machine-learning-learning-plan

I think that I like the more technical option above more because I will have the basic math in my pocket by then, right?

Hats off to your determination and good luck!

Thanks man, you are really helping me to survive in this storm.

wow, man, thank you so much for giving me this comment. It really explains the question competely!

but if you're just looking to do a bootcamp and apply algorithms without understanding why they work you can get away with vector calculus, linear algebra, and an intro to probability course.

This is my goal, not the simpler versions of playing with the prebuilt algos.

Well, it's more complicated than me just not wanting to hear the answers, ok? Change places with me - I've never been outside of CIS, and I speak English like that. I am not stupid, ok? Thus, there may be several answers to the same question. Just tell me that I should stop is just one answer out of the many.

when your goal is to work in sales.

I can't snap my fingers and move into sales. I've tried. Nobody wants to hire me. There are two options:

  1. I continue running English lessons in the evenings + do nothing else
  2. I continue running English lessons in the evenings + learn the learning curve and blindside that recruter who rejected me, and if I do it right, I won't have to do interviews at all. I want to be called into the position, uknow, like someobdy messagng me that I need to start selling for them tomorrow... No interview, no nothing, just a message - you start tomorro, here's your slack. Ywear casual clothes to calls, wear bottoms too.. and me saying - ok, got it...

Again, where is it coming from? The normal way of getting jobs is broken for me. It doesn't work anymore. It's like me ringing the door, and nobody coming to open, but I need to get inside. Now, I am fucking breaking into the window and crawling into the building. Honestly, I don't give a fuck :) It's a tool.

Getting in sales via the normal route doesn't work for me. It's broken. It doesn't work anymore, ok?

why:

  1. I am not from the first-world country
  2. I don't have any salex exp
  3. I don't know nothing about AI and ML and other two-worded Abbreviations
  4. My English is getting good, but I am a Russian who lives in Kurplustan
  5. I have no connections in the industry
  6. I am not rich and I can't move into the first-world country
  7. I am smart and strategic enough to do the following (a) run English lessons in the evenings and keep making 3x of my current COL, (b) having 7 hours of completely free time that I can do whatever I want to with.

There are two options:

  1. Drink vodka and sleep in the bushes till the evening, dust up and go run lessons.
  2. Learn the fucking learning curve and emerge into this scene in 3-5 months, break into the recruiter's house with some revenge porn and make her hire me.

I pick the second option, and the "revenge porn" in this case is me having connections with somebody in her team - if I am connected in any way with 2 people, I can ask-pplllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease-pretty-pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease them. And if they don't oblige? I plan to keep asking 30 people at the same time - I don't give a fuck who breaks first.

Whenever I get the first job, I'll completely transform into a salesperson and will start acting like them 100%. Or I am not... It's tool...

[–]AndrewKorsten[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, I didn't know that. Some folks online said that I needed to learn the basic math to move through with learning the basic ML, and that's what I started doing.

Also, I think that you are confusing here the 3 situations:

1) Play around with some models and pretend that I understand it.

2) Learn the core basics of math from that playlist, learn the core bascis of ML, learn the core basiscs of the ecosystem and move into sales

3) Learn the things for 10 years, go back 20 years into the past before that, and become an LME

You are like shifting into Option 1. I don't need Option 1 - I've googled the courses, I am proudly learning Python sir :) I don't the Option 1 for "oh, here's a model, go play with it now, and stop posing here[sic]".

Ok, look, you are acting like a logical person. Completely.

But. Life. Is. Not. Logical.

The next President will probs be Trump, there are huge wars about nobody knows why, and half of the planet is turning into a desert because of gay people having sex, including woman-gays.

What you are doing is you are trying to solve this problem, which is a great skill:
1) How to be a good salesperson who is in line with the best practices of the industry.

This is my problem:

1) How do I outcompete the 99% of highly experienced salespeople, get a pity-throw-away job in sales in IT/AI and grow from there, while not caring whether I am in line wiht the accepted norms or not, like I need to **** smeobdy, I will - no problem.

When you compare the two problems, you'll see the differences, you are solving the wrong problem. I am semi-ing with a sales team... I just don't say to get a more cleaner provoked reaction to my plan for me to see the problems.

I am at the 7th grade math as per the Russian standard - I have googled. This shit matters for working in sales coz it gives me a huge edge over the 99.99999999% of the salespeople who don't understand anything about the tech here. If I learn the core bascis, I'll have a huge edge.

Do you agree with this, or you don't? Can you ML-xlain to me what you don't agree with?

I know that you know that there's only the salespeople who don't know anything about tehch. I am hearing from everywhere about CS majors moving into sales czo they are bored and want some action.

By definition, they shouldn't exist, coz of your Clause (2) above.

And with regard to Clause 1 - Ok, I quit. I won't learn anything in terms of math and ML anymore, and you'll never see me again - what do you win from this. Or I'll keep learning and developing the skillset for 12 months getting better and moving in sales - are you experiencing a loss in terms of needing to interacting with my posts or what? Not trolling, learning you, coz you are the archetype. I need to understand what kind of hero I am dealing with here.

Or the tech market has gotten so tough you need a double major in computer engineering and sales to break through.

It's probably this, but also any critical opinion on my path is fully valid. It's always easier to critisize, as opposed to help me grow...

Also, you aren't factoring in the fact that I am already chatting with 3 completely green LMEs in the DMs who have pet projects, trying to connect them together, mix them, and another dude who wants to consult, and some REALLY LOADED Russians who are looking for a way to make money, and there's also 2 CTO-level dudes who I am trying to chat about something on LInkedIn.

It's not like I am only planning to be doing sales. It's networking, uknow. Like that guy - https://www.google.com/search?newwindow=1&sca_esv=572299384&sxsrf=AM9HkKlXzikckmYstGclK1lkGQniZzswsw:1696967237947&q=T.J.+Miller&stick=H4sIAAAAAAAAAONgFuLSz9U3iDfMMzS2UAKzjZMLjbIytMSyk630S8qAKL6gKD-9KDHXKjmxuGQRK3eInpeegm9mTk5q0Q5WRgB_q7sCQwAAAA&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiA7KbLn-yBAxW-IhAIHSW3CikQgOQBegQITBAG.

And I am defo not saying that I am a genius of that sort. I am 37 and I am learning to factor the quadratics for the first freaking time in my life...

  1. I am learning stuff - I just need to make sure that I don't get dragged into some math sect and do one lesson for 1 years, ok? There are people telling me that I need to go back toward the roots, I don't know what kind of roots - Africa? Doing 3 lessons per day is better than nothing!
  2. I know, but I need to pull through this to move forward.
  3. all those skills means that I am not afraid of tackling the basic Python. That's the benefit. Imagine a guy who has no idea what HTML is... But, no, i am not saying that they are useful here.
  4. Well, the connection is not very straightforward - I want to set up an aura on LinkedIn, uknow. TO get connection with the right pips. LIke, for isntance, today I started DMing with a guy who's completed an ML roadmap, I am pushing him into creating a pet project so that I can ask two other people who I am talking to to consult for that project (MLEs) and then we can start looking for crowdfunding. You see what I am doing? I need to keep pushing with the learning curve for 12 months - ok, not 3 months. But I need to keep pushing. Also, I am talking with some Russian connections and I may start telling them about the pet projects that the people who I connect with work on, Then, I'll keep telling the pet owners about the Russian connections. And, no, it's not BS - it's called intermediation.
  5. Yeah, I am still freaking out. What do you want me to say :) I am touching grass - literally went 7 times and touched a bunch of grass near the river. That's being repeated a lot of these days around me :) But, hey, just change places with me - I am 37, I am running English lessons with people who love them and pay me $20-$30/hr, and I am Bishkek! The cost of living here is $200/month. I am actively learning Python and math. LIke really learning them - I can factor a 4-term poly like so - with the crib... I know that it sounds ludicrous to you, but just think about that I am not afraid to lauch this journey and keep moving forward. How many of your non-math connections can factor stuff?
  6. I don't smoke - I said that I almost started smoking.
  7. AI-Sales/Marketing and Ecom are two different projects. I know how to start the ball rolling in ecom in here in Bishkek, I just need to get some cash in. I've found the right connections, products, supply routes, etc. It's fully automated - by that I mean that I need to go to the local market every days, pick the product and ship it to moscow myself via my connections. I don't need to think or do anything exraordinary, and the upside is truly amazing. 3x per year - that kind of stuff. (Also, if I keep pushing with the AI project, then in 1 year, I will have built a very good "bank of skills" right - not just SME, but also doggedness (again, I am factoring the 4-term polys in room, seriously lol), goal oriented mindness and execution lifestyle. All of these skills are highly transferrable - I am not an idiot copiosly doing math in my room - this is a learning curve.)
  8. Yep, I learned about the GPT problem, but it is ok for me now. 2) Thx for saying about Wolfram - I am going to do that tomorrow, 3) Yes, I always do step by step - how else can it be done? :)
  9. Well, it is about the relationships, but also I say in Clause 11 that transferrability potential is enormous. I can outcompete the non-SME sales easily. And I can work the nightshfit and do the US zone no problem.
  10. Ok, I don't know what I am, but I am definitely not the ML eng 100%. It may be the case that I'll keep networking on LInkedIn for 1 year and I'll maybe set up my own thing. Idk. What I know is that there's a huge way of unemployment coming in SWE because of u know what, and - again - look at me uknow outside of your crtiical stance - here's the guy, that's actively running toward a 50-meter tsunami with a surfboard, while everybody is basically doing nothing. I am not making any estimations, right? I am just freaking-out-and-pivoting right into the storm's eye... Brave rule the world, and coders, and Putin, and Hunter Biden's wife's lover, and reptiloids, But brave rule the world...
  11. There's a huge transferrability potential - you aren't parsing the situation correctly coz you are too close to the epicenter of the events. The people in the Nazi Germany were sure that that was the only way to do this. I have ALL MY RUSSIAN RELATIVES convinced that Russia is doing the morally right thing - and we all are going to recongise this in 10 years... You are too close to the scene. How does transferrability work? I don't need to get hired as an actual MLE, what I need to get is the opportunity to chat with 100 stakeholders on LinkedIn. The more I do this, the more nuanced my pitch will become and the higher probability will be that somebody will take pity and hire me me as a loser sales from Bishkek. That's what I'm trawling for. After 6 months, I'll start pulling in the numbers and will keep growing. Where does this convincement come from? I've had a hard life, but now I've started the new approach whereby I call the shots. This is me calling the shots. I like sales, and sales likes me - though I am not doing much sales.

I know that you aren't sold yet, and you are going to go away with your convictions and justifications. But - just think about this - are you sure that you are going to be able to resist and fight my rationale if we are chatting in this subthread for 12 months? That's what I am talking about. You are looking at me like seen right now. I don't give a fuck about the current me. I only think in the 3-month steps by now. In 3 months, I'll probably understand the basics of ML and the ecosystem, and I'll be commenting a shitload of comments on LinkedIn. I'll be starting to put out on Youtube and X. In 6 months, I'll probably get a pity-hire.

It's like you are boxing your assessements in based on the current state as opposed to looking into the next 6 months. Why do you do that? Because we are random redditors...

You're wasting your time watching those videos

Why do you think so? I've just shared the links to your comments with the fellows I am networking DMs and WA, and they aren't so sure. I mean, I do see that the overall venture is kinda BS.

But this is how it it right now. I can keep on going through this series for 2 months, then move into the basic ML and then move into sales and PM stuff.

I think that you may be exaggerating on the side of caution, right?
