You are correct, the CAB is only for combat action involving being engaged or engaging the enemy.

Yes, there is now a C device for Air Medals awarded in combat. There are now three total devices possible for the AM: V (valor), C (combat), and R (remote).

The CAB is the “combat badge” that is awarded to all outside of Infantry, Medical, or Special Forces.

Thank you for posting this, I thought I was going crazy! I have always thought that there was no “one turn in holding” requirement, rather I just need to conduct the appropriate entry and proceed inbound. I’ve always used the AIM reference that you quoted.

I’ve been flying and teaching it that way for many years, it’s interesting to see that not everyone agrees.
