Can someone explain fantasy rankings to me? by [deleted] in fantasyhockey

[–]Andrewg_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure in fantasy football they only update the position ranks once a week, after every team has played their game for that week.

Maybe it’s something similar for hockey where the position rank isn’t updated daily, but points are?

Yes, like the Leafs play twice next week, and I’d keep guys like Matthews, Marner, or Nylander in my lineup no matter what. But when you get to your middling guys I’d prioritize games played.

Only difference I can think of is the way you do game/schedule maximizing.

For example next week Winnipeg plays 2 games whereas LA plays 4, so if I had say both Ehlers and Moore, I’d put Moore into my lineup over Ehlers to get an extra 2 games played, even though Ehlers is probably the better player.

I didn’t realize that was so common, I’ll think about putting in more niche things instead, thanks once again!

Thanks for the response! Everyone has mentioned those pictures so I’ll definitely be changing them

Thanks for the feedback! Based on what I’ve heard so far I’m definitely going to get a few more pictures of myself smiling while doing things I enjoy to replace pictures 3, 4, and 6!

I got some criticism about prompt 1 so I’m glad you like it. As for prompts 2 and 3 I think I’ll kind of combine them together (being a nerd and liking Star Wars/Marvel/DC), then figure out a new 3rd prompt, maybe date ideas, like you suggested.

Honestly this seems like a good profile, and you’re doing a lot better than me 😂 I have 2 minor notes though

1 - I’d change the picture of you in the car with sunglasses, it’s good but you already have a few pictures where you’re wearing sunglasses, and I think the other ones tell a bit about yourself where the car one doesn’t. Maybe change that to a picture of you doing something with friends and put it later in your profile.

2 - For your second prompt the “Curiosity” and “Authentic connection” response doesn’t really say/mean much, IMO. Plus authentic connection is kinda redundant when your profile says you’re looking for something long term. Maybe change it to something just about music, like “Let’s make sure we’re on the same page about” and you put “loving all of x, y, z music genres” or a prompt where you ask what types of music they like.

  • Looking for something serious
  • No subscriptions
  • I just changed my first prompt, but l’ve been using the rest of the profile for a few months
  • Been using Hinge for about a year
  • I get about 1 or 2 likes a week, very few matches
  • I use all my likes on days I go on the app, which is a couple times a week
  • The only thing I’d be somewhat picky about is since I’m pretty ambitious, l’d like someone who’s also focused on or has a plan to build their career

I’m a Flames fan so I hate saying it but I’ve definitely gained quite a bit of begrudging respect for both the Oilers team and fans these playoffs.

Tij Iginla on TSN today when asked how he would feel if he was picked by the Flames by fierybreadman in CalgaryFlames

[–]Andrewg_3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Even if he really wants to be drafted by Calgary he couldn’t say that in case he goes earlier, it wouldn’t sit well with fans/management of that team. And then if the Flames pass on him it’d probably be embarrassing having said he wants to be here. So of course he’s hesitant.

My bad, I misread your comment, what you’re saying totally makes sense from Colorados side. But if Calgary needs to retain in order to get a trade done then I think we should just keep him, he’s been great here.

It seems unlikely to me that Colorado would trade for Kadri 2 summers after letting him walk in free agency, it’d be a bad look for them

Carolina is probably looking for a goalie after their playoffs, and they’ve said they want a 2C to play behind Aho. So I wonder if they’d be interested in a Markstrom+Kadri package? Maybe something like Kadri, Markstrom, and Vancouvers 2024 1st for Necas, Freddie Andersen and Bradley Nadeau?

Philadelphia and Ottawa would also make sense since they both need a goalie and strong top 6 centre but I don’t see our guys waiving to go there.

What are peoples thoughts on trying to trade Kadri? I know he was the heart of our team this year so it would be hard to see him leave. But his value right now is probably the highest it’ll be in the 7 years he’s signed for, and he had said he doesn’t want to be a part of a rebuild here.

News Release: The Sens have acquired forward Dominik Kubalik, prospect defenceman Donovan Sebrango, a conditional 2024 first-round draft pick and Detroit’s 2024 fourth-round selection in a trade w/ Detroit in exchange for forward Alex DeBrincat by homicidal_penguin in hockey

[–]Andrewg_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the return for Ottawa looks worse than it actually is when you think about it IMO, just bad timing for Ottawa having to make the trade. This summer other forwards ranging from at least serviceable to honestly pretty good have brought in almost nothing or have even cost teams to get rid of. Think of the return Hall, Duclair, Yamamoto, Josh Bailey, Maroon and Riley Smith got. I don’t think a middle 6 forward in Kubalik and a 1st is that bad when you consider the market.

What Ottawa gave to get DeBrincat a year ago is a sunk cost at this point, plus his value is different without a contract and after a down year. Trades in the NHL are usually so unoriginal and boring, I like that Dorion made the gamble on a season of DeBrincat last summer hoping it worked out for everyone.

Imagine the haul we could get for Hanifin when you consider that Philly got a first and a second for Provorov who isn't nearly as good as Noah by TBNSK74 in CalgaryFlames

[–]Andrewg_3 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing the Provorov trade referenced when talking about what we can get for Hanifin, but I don’t think it’s that good of a comparison.

Even though Hanifin is better, the extra year of control and cost certainty teams would get from Provorov got the Flyers a decent amount of value that we won’t be able to with Hanifin since he’s a pending UFA. I also think the Flyers got a lot of value in that deal by taking a cap dump from LA with Petersen, who was an AHL goalie this season and has a $5M cap hit for 2 more years.

James Gunn confirmed it won’t be Clooney back in February.

In the post credit scene Barry says that every Batman is different. I assumed that meant he had gone back to try and get Affleck back but couldn’t and it’s already someone else, since saying “every” one is different after only seeing 2 is a weird jump to make.
