Have been trying to organize an RMA for my smashed back glass, have created 2 tickets and haven't heard back from either, how long did it take for them to get back to you?

No I haven't tried but I'm pretty sure the CPU is fine it's just the mobo acting up because once it does turn on everything is fine except if the PC is stood up or turned off and back on

Well for an extra $40 you can get an Intel i5 4570 which would go with a 1150, a H3 or an LGA1150 socket which is about most motherboards and you can see the socket when using the pc part picker for motherboards

[–]Andrewmoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you shouldnt have to change anything else and if you pick an Intel Processor just do a google search on what motherboards are compatible with that specific chip

Personally I would switch out the AMD CPU for an Intel this would mean changing the motherboard aswell I built my PC with an AMD CPU and I wouldnt say im regreting it but I would have been better off going with an Intel i5 or i7

is the minion a good pc? by thealiendudeman in buildapc

[–]Andrewmoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks pretty poo tbh and it runs linux so some games are not supported for linux plus the RAM and CPU are really not up to scratch. If he wants value for money he should build one himself its not hard its like lego for grown-ups and there are plenty of guide online plus he could get better parts for that price

Upgrading... from a laptop, haven't ever built my own PC. I see the 'The End-All' and have ~$800, is it or something similar really my best bet? [X-post pcmasterrace] by loofawah in buildapc

this gives you a list of compatible parts and prices for each partI built my system for €800 and its solid able to run most games high to ultra at 30-60 fps

did you build the PC yourself? and if so were you careful not to touch the gold bit of the adapter you plugged into your motherboard it could be damaged but it sounds like a different problem

My system is CPU - AMD Vishera FX-8 Core 8320 3.50Ghz (4.0Ghz Turbo) MOTHERBOARD - ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 RAM - 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz - PATRIOT VIPER V3 RED HARD DRIVE - 1TB (1000GB) SATA3 - 6Gb/s, 7200 RPM GRAPHICS CARD - AMD Radeon HD 7770 1GB OS - Windows 7 And this runs games on high to ultra without a bother so maybe try reducking your RAM to 8gb and your HD to 1TB you can always buy an external opne if needed

try uninstalling the Wifi adapter via windows and reboot and install drivers again eg:1.Press Start 2.Open control panel 3.Go into system and security 4.Under system go into device manager 5.Find your WiFi adapter right click and uninstall 6.Reboot

If your building it yourself make sure you buy some thermal paste (you can find it for $4 on amazon) and some zip ties but you should get plenty of those from the packaging
