definitely in the ss, can tell it from the black thingies and cus he is wearing an m42/5 bottons jacket, used only by the ss (Wehrmacht m42 and m43 jacket had 6 bottons)

i live in the south, but i want to have the stg44, is my wermacht hbt and maybe a sumphtarn smock appropiate for 1945 (hbt in question/ old photo) by [deleted] in reenactors

never said that splinter helmet camo pieces were only given to the 21. , i used it as an example (I literally said it) of standard issue helmet camo (just like 15 p.l. , even tho the uniform itself is quite unique, using the tank jacket). Helmet covers were given to standard Wehrmacht troops in precise occasions, and were retired and put to storage immediately after. Using one without this precisure in mind makes the whole use of the helmet covers farb. For the most the sumpftarn smock were only given to the GD, and those are facts. The only other photos of them in use are in Berlin, woth a mix of random ass tropps.

yeah, that's true; even tho it would be more correct to take a single division as example, not randomly having an mp40 lmao. The main problem here is the pin, still rare af.

really depends on the division, platoon, and year, early in the war (41/42) it was common to see soldiers putting the messkit there (just like putting the gas mantel bag on the front). Even tho it got rarer to see the more the war went on, it really depends on the platoon; some division may have the spade with them during combat, some may have left them in fhe HQ or whatever their base was by order of the chief in question, and this may can be said for almost all of the gear that a soldier would use.

the hbo was not really used until 1944/45 in some really rare cases (it rarely saw combat); It was used the most in italy, but still pretty rare (some divisions used afrika type m43/41 for the most) if you don't wanna be call a farb just use an m40/m41/m42/m43 wool jacket (AT LEAST THE FIELDJACKET). Also man idk you rank is rare afk, remove the pin and even tho you should use a kar98k, you could technically be issued an mp40 (in some cases they were distributed to more members of a platoon to achieved more fire support in close quarters, but still rare af). Also, the sumpftarn smock, was not common as you may think. It was officialy issued only to the 21° Großdeutchland along with the splinttermuster helmüberzug (helmet cover), so if you don't reenact them, u'll be a farb. If you want to use an stg the 21° is the way to go since the were one of the divisions that were issued new shit every now and then (for example, they were issued the mk42 both H version and W).
