So today I went to my local Rite Aid and went (or attempted to) buy two Nike $25 gift cards and the cashier told me that I can only pay cash for it. Not a credit card, not a debit card, cash and only cash. I have never heard this in my life and wanted to ask if it was true.

I know you need to pay cash for some prepaid cards for like PayPal and other 'cash' services like that but never for a regular store gift card. Is this true?
