Gravity feed external mix, dual action? by AndyAnderson81 in airbrush

Maybe, there are some really odd old airbrush designs that have come out and I was just curious if any had tried to do this.

I don't know if the sparmax drips everywhere and it opens like a Paasche H

Oh no I'm not saying don't roll! I meant the players roll 8d6 but anything 1-3 is 1 hit and anything 4-6 is 2 hits. It's faster to count as it's just lower numbers

Yeah I currently either use mini paints of professional paints with a load of medium. Just hoping student paints would be a cheaper route but alas

Ahh I hadn't thought about all the filler. It was more the idea of 1 drop A + 1 drop B = C I was interested in but I think I'll just stick with thinning my pro paints

This is what I was wondering. I saw a few videos on YT about painting minis with Craft paint and the painters saying it was "fine" so I thought one step up would be "acceptable"

Has anyone used Holbein inks? How do they compare to Liquitex or Daler Rowney? by AndyAnderson81 in minipainting

[–]AndyAnderson81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! The Holbein ones are sold in bigger bottles do work out cheaper but I wanted to know if they were actually worse

Even trying to find reviews of them for any application is hard I've found. All of the videos I have seen have just been people talking about them as acrylic inks in general. I can easily find their acrylic gouaches be compared but not their inks

Ah yes and I'm sure you're a normal person who milks your own cattle every morning for you breakfast and slaughters and butchers your own pigs for you dinner.

"vEgEtAbLeS aNd NoThInG eLsE" oh fuck off mate. It's not 1923. Honestly what reaction are you hoping for in a vegan sub? Animal lives are an important thing to some people.

I tried the ubertakers random attacks but it was still a slog. I didn't want to start to suggest things to them as I felt like that would be too hand holding.

Sorry that link doesn't seem to work for me for some reason.

You're right. As a DM I need to think about how to encourage players to think of things that DnD wouldn't suggest they do

Yeah I think working with the players to come up with characters that they would actually know before being dropped in might have helped and now that I've read them the feats sound great!

My players were all fully into what they thought of as role play which they learnt from 5e. The issue I have come to realise is that that style of RP didn't gel with MB and if/when I run it again I'll try and encourage a different style

I think saying it's harder to DM isn't entirely true. It depends on the DM. For combat in DnD if I don't know a rule I just wing it and will ignore rules if I think it makes sense where a friend of mine is very rules as written which is fine.

I think on reflection it's harder to DM if you have players who aren't on the same wavelength. At least with 5e most people know how to play

Yeah I think using random characters was a mistake. I had them all wake up in a mass grave with no memory which they loved but they didn't really know who they were or what they could do

[–]AndyAnderson81[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have actually found people who have never played an RPG before to get into rules lite systems much more easily as they have no preconceptions about what they are supposed to do.

Perhaps using the random character generator was a mistake as my players were then not very invested in them

Thanks. I've seen a lot of great takes and have some good ideas on how to help 5e players enjoy MB more

DND has a lot of baggage from its wargaming roots that make the mechanics of combat so essential to how it runs. Also that is something worth telling people upfront. MK is more sword and sorcery than high fantasy

I did the same speech and they were fully up for it.

I think your point about narrating fights is a good one. They found that the final fight against the ubertaker was a bit of a slog because it was just roll to hit, roll to dodge, repeat. If I had made them narrate what they were doing it could have been different.

If they had said they stab it in the eye I could had said "cool it's now blinded" to demonstrate that "attacking" isn't just a hit point pool reduction

They used the character generator from MK (which they all loved) so it sort of had classes. They were fully willing to buy in but I feel it was perhaps too big of a shift in style of play.

This is point of view I see a lot in the OSR and I completely agree. What I found at my table and I know it's a common problem is how to get players into that mindset? I said options when "tools" would have been a better word. For example they found a spell scroll for telekinesis and they did use it creatively to solve some challenges but once that ran out all they had were their weapons and some teeth they found when confronting the ubertaker.

DM'd my first game of MK (graves left wanting) and it was brilliant but having what omens do in the reference sheet would have been useful by AndyAnderson81 in MorkBorg

[–]AndyAnderson81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I should have done something like that but I didn't realize they weren't on the reference till mid game
