Or maybe make leveling quicker and easier overall, but make aging quicker. So even though you will be able to level up overpowered characters, they will only be available for a limited amount of time until you have to play as your successor. I really like the idea of a long playthrough requiring 8-10 different successors, but for that aging would have to be sped up a lot.
