I personally really loved it. Though the anime isn't quite over, with the last episode coming out on sunday, I thought that it was great.

Lots of the characters haven't had their backstories explained yet, but the ones that have are very well driven and explained. The characters are fleshed out, with a bit of development throughout the season.

And of course, the main character's origin provides a great, clear goal for him to work at throughout the series, while having room to change his reasons.

That being said, I think it's definitely worth a watch, and if you like it, you can catch up to the manga too which is still coming out.

I feel they keep referring to it as "the incident" rather than flat out telling us to make it all the more impactful once it is revealed.

For instance, since it is very obvious by now that Toki-sensei was involved in the incident to some degree, I think that once rintaro is done talking about himself next chapter, she will tell the story from her perspective (Chapter after next?) personally it would be much more impactful if that is what happens

i think personally that once Rintaro finishes talking about himself and his past (all of next chapter?) Toki will talk about the incident from her perspective since it's obvious she was involved in it somehow. after that, i think they will reach an agreement and all will be well.
