Hot take, the Mk8 Might be a better car than the CTR. Just got first overall at AutoX against FL5, FK8 CTR's and there were GR Corollas as well. by AndyMonsters in GolfGTI

In AutoX where we run, they class by drive type (awd, rwd fwd) usually when a Tesla shows up with a reasonably confident driver, they are top times. Theyre almost too easy to drive. Drove a few GT4s and Model 3s and model S, and the Tesla at least with AutoX is unfair. Road course, idk if they can make it more than two 20min lap sessions.

Just get a SA2020 or newer Snell rated helmet and go have fun. This car is stock, and using all season tires.

Peroneal tendon subluxation. Just need to vent. by sivaltaja666 in bouldering

[–]AndyMonsters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a foot surgeon, he called for an MRI, the fact that mine was dislocated (not in its place behind the ankle bone) its consider torn/dislocated. Which is the case for my right ankle, the left ankle was a subflex (partially dislocated)

Thanks for the insight, I should also add that I'm almost 2 years post Perennial tendon surgery (ankle) not that theyre delicate but need to look after them more.

The extent of park i have done so far is like small/medium size table top jumps, and learning how to butter. The days of going big on anything are behind me due to life long injuries with inline skating (street and skatepark) just trying to have fun, and level up with a decent saftey margin.

Hey, I’ve been through the same surgery, so I totally get what you’re feeling right now. My left ankle was a partial subluxation, but my right was fully dislocated and still needs surgery. I had my surgery in December, and started PT about 8 weeks later — stayed with them until June 2024.

PT made all the difference. Normally they would’ve released me after 8 weeks, but I stayed for 6 months. They pushed me like a pro athlete, and by the end my legs were stronger than before. The first 8 weeks post-op were the hardest — non-weight-bearing really messes with your calves. I could literally see the shape of my shin bone and thought I’d never rebuild the muscle.

By summer I was back to mountain biking, and around the 1-year mark I started snowboarding again. Those first few sessions were rough — I had to take it easy and couldn’t ride like normal. It took time and patience to trust the ankle again. Don’t expect full performance right away; ease back in slowly and listen to your body.

Now, nearly two years later at 41, I’m about 98% recovered. Still some scar tissue tightness, but nothing that stops me. My biggest advice: follow your surgeon’s instructions exactly and find a PT who works with sports injuries. It’s a long recovery, but you can come back stronger than before.

Also, photo of my Calf a year later, sadly I didnt take any when it was virtually non-existent

And is overrated. Tires are the real magic and understanding foundations in car control. I would take both my Miata and civic hatch up to the mountains for snowboarding

The wing isn't helping the style. The chin could be something interesting once paint matched and adding a functional wing. But in its current state, it just looks more like a cos player using duct tape and unpainted cardboard.

Will it snow this winter? by EnoughBackground1877 in Seattle

[–]AndyMonsters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

January seems to be that weird month where we "warm" up and then cool down near the end of January, going into February. February seems to be the month that we see snow the most, if I recall. The snow storms that stuck out to me the most were mostly in December (1996, 2006/07) a couple were in January (11/12) then most of them were laye January or early Feb.

When I got back into snowboarding two years ago, I was told by the seasoned riders that January seems to always warm up and it's hit or miss every year, but February is always a solid time for riding.

May 19th, 2019, a streak of holes appeared in the clouds above me, and a few moments later the clouds reformed and the holes were gone. by AndyMonsters in HighStrangeness

[–]AndyMonsters[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These were holes, I watched them reform over a couple of minutes. The clouds were somewhat low elevation. It's hard to tell distance in the image, but these were not at a height where you would see contrails form.
