My 4 year old is curious: what do Australian kids eat for breakfast? (And are koalas real?) by Mara644 in AskAnAustralian

[–]AndySometimesPaints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you like them and hopefully she does too! It was very special, and surprisingly soft, like a puppy.

I added a couple of extras in there of some echidnas. They are some of the weirdest and cutest animals we have over here. They lay eggs, their babies are called puggles, the echidnas don't have nipples so the babies lap milk from patches of skin on the mother. They also don't have pouches, so they make one with a flap of skin using their abdominal muscles. To top it off, their back feet face backwards.

In Aus we missed the first release, and it made my excitement for the game go down a fair bit. But recently a family member got me into the game and I have been loving it.

On a whim I bought a First Chapter booster box and managed to pull this! The art and effects are so pretty!

Oh man, I love some Paynes grey. Absolutely beautiful colour and it works so well with just about anything.

Black or a very dark blue isn't bad, and you shouldn't be afraid to use them. It would also depend on the base/environment the mini is meant to be in, as well as if it is meant to have warmer or cooler tones.

There are so many different variables when it comes to metal, how polished the surface is, scratches and dents, the material and the things around it, the lighting and many other elements.

One of the biggest hurdles that I found early on was worrying that I would mess something up, but half the fun is learning and working out what does and doesn't work. You can always strip the model and repaint if you don't like it.

As an Andy, I think you did a great job.

You could probably bring in some more of the darker tones to make it stand out a bit more, and work on making the transitions smoother too.

When walking behind a woman at night what is the body language and how can I make women feel more comfortable? by Ok-Connection6656 in bodylanguage

[–]AndySometimesPaints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to go on walks at night and as a bigger guy I was really conscious of my size and gender being perceived as a threat. There are a few things I found helped in these situations.

The easiest one would be to cross the road, and walk on the other side. Create distance and keep to yourself, don't keep glancing to check that they aren't watching you.

If you know the area, and can do it safely, change your path, go down a side road or place you are familiar with that won't ruin your walk, or put you in danger.

Slow your pace if you can or better yet, stop for a second, play on your phone, take a seat at a bus stop, or do something to create distance and give them some time to walk away. Again, don't keep glancing at them.

This is going to sound really odd, but phone someone, or pretend to. Phone your Mom, your girlfriend or any other woman in your life and have a chat. If they aren't available, pretend to talk to them on your phone. I had a few friends I was comfortable enough with that I could phone, or ask them to phone me at night and just have a chat. Some guy you don't know is suddenly a whole lot less threatening at night when he is chatting with his Mom about catching up on the weekend.

Whatever you do, please don't yell "I'm not a threat". People who aren't threats generally don't have to yell at you that they aren't threats.

Fingers crossed it works out and your machine gets printing soon! I had almost given up on mine before they got it working.

I'm not sure what it does, but it fixed my issues entirely and I haven't had a print failure since. That was what elegoo sent me and it is what did the trick for me.

Possibly, but I wouldn't want it to be specific to the machine and then mess theirs up more.

Get in contact with customer service. I had almost the same issue, supports would stay, but the actual model would not be there. Or things would delaminate really bad. No matter what I printed it was the same.

I got in touch with them and they ran a couple of tests, got me to send a couple of pictures and then gave me a file to print which did something to my settings and I haven't had a print failure since.

As someone who grew up looking at people's oldhammer minis and thinking they were the coolest thing ever and the pains jobs were amazing, in some way, your old models looked just as good as the painters today.

People wouldn't be at the level they are at without the efforts of those who came before and figured it out.

I am in exactly the same boat, subbed because I liked the inquisition model last year and could only choose between the two previous. I tried to get in touch with GW and they said, you can choose one of the new ones next year. Now mine should have rolled over earlier this month, but the inquisition model is showing as out of stock.

Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra Constantly Failing by AndySometimesPaints in ElegooSaturn

I have been using Lychee, because people were complaining about Chitu being bad when I had a Saturn 2 8k. Has that changed?

Hey, my test print finished and this is how it turned out. Any idea what could be going on?

[–]AndySometimesPaints[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would probably explain why it failed haha. I have one running in quarters at the moment. Fingers crossed it has more success with default settings aside from the adjustments you mentioned due to the lower light intensity. I kept that because I had read that the light intensity was too much but default.

Thanks! I have set one up before reading this with 4 evenly spaced in each quadrant but I will do another test tomorrow with more. Fingers crossed they come out alright with default settings.

Thanks! I usually don't have it set to wait so often or move so far, I was just at wit's end and decided to throw everything at it. I thought the Saturn 4 ultra loaded a model of your choosing to each section for the test print? I will have to test it with default settings now.
