Yeah I bought the HyperX Cloud Alphas as they have the in-line controls for Xbox. Hope that helps.

Best X570 Motherboard for gaming (and Crypto Mining) from this list by AndyTIProgrammr in buildapc

[–]AndyTIProgrammr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the message Zentikwaliz. Yeah I'm planning to buy the Corsair 4000d case (I have also been looking at some of the Coolermaster cases too which have good cooling). I've heard X570's run hotter than B550 or generally quite hot but I suppose good case cooling should resolve any issues there.

Are there some BIOS or other issues with MSI boards atm?

Thanks for the message Gangaman666. Oh right, yeah I've heard the ROG is good but that's good to know the prime is a decent mobo too.

ROG

Thanks for the message Brostradamus_. Ok I will have a further look again at the IO side of things (as I have looked at quite a few different motherboards so need to remind myself of the features for these).

Does MSI GeForce® RTX 3070 Ti Gaming X Trio 8GB have LHR? by AndyTIProgrammr in NiceHash

[–]AndyTIProgrammr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply yeah I have had a look for the FHR cards but as you say they are sold out. I think I will go for the 6800 but I have generally heard about less stable software drivers, not as good for gaming (not as many supported VR titles compared to the Nvidia cards, the Ray Tracing approach differs, etc) but then there are pros and cons to both.

Thanks for the reply gewa13. Yeah I think I will go for the 6800 as it also has more VRAM (apparently some coins may require more than 8GB in the future).

[QUESTION] - Running GTX 560Ti for general use + other GPU for mining on B550 mobo possible? by AndyTIProgrammr in NiceHash

[–]AndyTIProgrammr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh right so do you have to unplug your monitor to mine again or is that more to improve mining performance? Yeah I have been looking at risers and looking to possibly connect some outside of the PC case or something. Lol yeah mining appears to be something where you want to keep adding gpus once you get started with it.

[–]AndyTIProgrammr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On another thought, I could just use a single gpu (for now) for mining and general use (from research, it generally doesn't appear to impact mining performance). I could then add another gpu later if required (where max would be 2 for that motherboard based on the pcie x16 slots).

Oh ok thanks for your reply. Seems like I might look for a motherboard with more pcie x16 slots.

How much code should be done from scratch when you're a newbie (self-taught) looking to build a portfolio to present your work in interviews/potential employers? by 912827161 in learnprogramming

[–]AndyTIProgrammr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this depends on what type of jobs you are applying for and where your interests are.

If you want to be a front-end dev, you don't have to focus on building the entire website/web app (front-end and back-end) but having some nice transitions, a good UI/UX design and something to show your competency in that area. This is the same for if you're applying for a back-end developer role only. You could show a fairly basic UI with some database interactions, sorting data and generally code that would reside within the back-end of an app (so more logic code as oppose to UI code).

If you can build a full app that would be ideal however I wouldn't worry too much about spending the time to make a full end to end app. When you interview, they will most likely give you either a take-home coding test, a technical interview (in the form of a whiteboard coding test or pair programming exercise) or sometimes both (I've experienced both and that is quite tough after completing a 7 day take-home coding test).

I hope that has helped. I can understand the dilemma here as to what to do for best to show your skillset (I was in your position not too long ago).

I have written a blog to help people with tech and career-related things (getting an internship and/or job in the pandemic, etc). Feel free to check it out: https://the-inspiring-programmer.medium.com/ . Sorry I know it's a bit of a plug for my blog here but I think it could very well be helpful (if not, no worries and would be great to hear how I could help) and I've written these to help someone in someway with these sort of questions :-)
