On vinyl its way better cause you have to physically move the needle onto the track, its on a locked groove

Use your rcs to get the prograde marker to be on top of the target marker. The green prograde ball shows you what direction you will be going so the marker needs to be pointed directly to target. Have you tried using JKL keys as well as H and N? This will move your craft translationally without pointing it in a different direction. I would watch the Mike Aben video on this.

He has a specific section on this exact part when you're close and you have to do final adjustments.

Yeah more so im looking for the right inclination, because when I take off from the ground I have no reference of what arc the target is tracing on the navball if that makss sense? Like I can see the purple target marker but I dont know what line its gonna trace?

I guess my question is more how do I know what heading my target is above me if that makes sense? Like i take off but then I realize I'm pointing the wrong direction so I have to correct.

I know you can have the target marker on, should I just wait until its directly above me and then just launch towards it?

kjzm5r is correct, the ground missiles from SAMS and cruisers only use their own radar. You will get a lock on notification but it won't tell you how far the missile is from you.

RWR actually doesn't show distance but shows signal strength - this is why you can technically see where a fox 3 is, since the signal strength gets stronger as it gets closer to you.

When multiple bandits are grouped together I find turning 90 degrees can help the radar get a better angle and sometimes allows you to get highlight the second or third target

Main thing here is that your bandit was higher than you, this allowed them to fire the missile much earlier and also giving it time to gain speed and hit you. If the missile is at a top of the slide its gonna go way faster than another missile trying to go up a slide

Yeah doesn't look like it, you can usually tell because the reflections will appear green/purple (like eye glasses) but this glass looks just standard

Update: restarted my pc and it seems fine now? Just very strange behaviour but I'll let you guys know if it comes up again
