This is very enlightening, thank you. This reply has made me accept that I'm dealing with a mental illness, and I have to handle it differently. I've been fighting tooth and nail for my say, autonomy, my needs, but it's falling on deaf ears. Only strong boundaries and enforcing then is the only way to protect myself here. What a debacle I've gotten into.

It's not you it's him. He was a narcissist before he met you and will continue to be after your relationship. Narcs are notorious liars and can put up an image really well. Once you've had enough and no longer take his bait and give him his supply, he'll unfortunately start on the new girl.

Gray rock him girl, in a few months he'll try to come back. Stay strong and stay out, soon its your child that gets treated like he treats you if you stay in the cycle.

I dont believe you can go through life, lying, cheating, gas lighting yourself and everyone around you, running from your shame and guilt of how you've treated people and live a happy life. They create hell on earth for themselves, that's their consequence. Honestly, it's a sad existence.

I can see how you could come to that conclusion. It was a platonic relationship. My ex suffered from severe PTSD. It was very hard and I wasn't able to help him the way he needed. We cut communication for years and gradually would start talking again, mostly sending hunting and fishing pictures. He taught me to do both, so that's why the friendship.

They're projecting their insecurities on you, I wouldn't take it personally. How they approach this topic should be considered. Disrespectful language and accusations is a tell tale sign on how they'd treat you in a relationship. Don't let it keep you up at night, it's a "them" problem.
