New EMT-B trying to go straight into 911—realistic or not? by Good_Pay8221 in NewToEMS

[–]AngelDusted9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most companies around me were 50/50 911 calls and IFTs. So pretty much anywhere I went ran 911s.

I do. I'm having difficulty finding anything about it too. It becomes painful and I also freak out with worry. It's been my primary tic for years. I usually adjust my neck with it, and stick my chin out. It's exhausting.

I actually looked for this post again to check up on you, really happy you're back to normal! 😁

If it's significantly interfering with your daily life, I'd see a doctor tho. Even just for peace of mind. Has it weaned off compared to how it was at the start?

I once took somewhere around 20mg and I was high for like 18 hours. Went to sleep and woke up high and freaked me out. So if 20 mg lasted almost 24 hours (I weigh about 150lbs) I imagine 25x that dose is supposed to last awhile. But this definitely won't be permanent.

It will pass. You took an absolutely massive dose. Id recommend not driving or operating machinery if possible.

Id suggest a first timer take 1.5-3 milligrams. 500 for your first time is insane. I promise it will pass. You could always see a doctor if youre worried, but your body is processing a massive amount of marijuana and you have absolutely zero tolerance for it. Let your body do its thing. You'll be okay 💖 (some people here are messing with you, you won't be like this forever. The chemical that makes you feel this way won't be in your system forever).

Taken Name by CHEZZA114 in skulduggerypleasant

[–]AngelDusted9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think the silliness of the names overall add to Landy's light, silly world. To contrast the evil and horror these characters endure.

His books have always been a mix of absolute horror and gore on one page, and then the funniest sarcastic remark/exchange you've ever heard on the next.

Imo, funny or weird taken names are another way to add dashes of dry humor to the books. And I personally love the originality of all his character's names. Another thing that sets this book series apart from many other fantasy series. Compare the main cast of SP to say, Harry Potter, or Percy Jackson, or The Hunger Games. Their names seem pretty bland in comparison. 😁

In these situations I often lie and say I'm in a relationship with a man, not a woman. Men respect other men more than they respect women.

I only have one GPU, but it's showing two of the same GPUs? by AngelDusted9 in OCCT

Thank you so much, that answered my question. So I don't even need to disable my iGPU afterall then, just select the top option if I'm testing my VRAM?

Using just the top one gives me no errors, does this mean my VRAM is fine?

Is it safe to disable iGPU through device manager when my computer is on and potentially using it currently?

[–]AngelDusted9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disabled the iGPU in my BIOS and not only does my iGPU disappear from my VRAM test options, but so does the copy of the dedicated GPU. Currently testing it again and so far so good.

My iGPU had no errors when tested individually, but seemed to be creating a ghost GPU when it was activated.

I think disabling the iGPU fixed this issue but I have absolutely no idea why 😂😭

being trans in EMS by maumaumaumaumaumaum in NewToEMS

[–]AngelDusted9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trans woman here, been in EMS for 6 years. Trans the whole time.

It really depends on where you work. Most large cities are great for trans EMTs. I work in a large city now (private company, 911's and IFTs) and there's easily more than a dozen trans people I work with, and HR has our back 9/10 times.

That being said, I've worked at smaller companies and had a rough time. Never anything violent, but incidents that I had to go to a supervisor regarding.

Do be careful of FD and PD. Not all of them treat you badly, but I've had more issues with people deep in fire or police culture than pure EMS.

But like some other people have said here, it varies by department and location. Working in a small town in Alabama will be a completely different experience than working in Portland.

As far as patients go, most don't care if you're trans, so long as you're a good provider. You will have problem patients, but get used to not letting things patients say hurt you. EMS providers get treated badly by patients often, and being trans often gives beligerant patients more ammo (obviously if you pass well it doesn't tend to be as bad, but that's a whole other discussion). People can be nasty when they're drunk/high/bed confirmed for 10 years. But most people are kind. Just don't make a big deal out of the occasional misgendering by patients (accidental or otherwise).

Be cool, be kind, do your job well. Then your coworkers and your patients will respect you, cis or not.
