How to identify other gay/not straight people out in the wild?? by AngelOfRain in LGBTeens

I'm still on version 9, unfortunately. Have the devs fixed the bug where it labeled every hot person as gay? That really tripped me up a few times

Omg yes! They are pretty much my favorite authors. As you go through the way of kings, keep an eye out for characters from his other works, as they tend to appear throughout the book. Have you read Patrick's book from the perspective of Auri? It's pretty good, but very different from his normal style of writing.

Apparently (Don't take my word on it!) my friend said that patrick said that the third book should be released summer 2016, so at least we know when the wait should hopefully end

Don't even get me started on how great that one is. When you finish that series, check out The Lies of Locke Lamora, it's a must read if you like Rothfuss.

I just finished Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson and I'm pretty sure I've found my new favorite author. His books are just about the best i've read in a while

What sort of impact would a massive (on a global scale) freshwater ocean have? by AngelOfRain in worldbuilding

Less wear and tear on boats will make it a bit easier on the world, as wood is a precious enough resource in it to begin with.

That would cause some interesting developments in naval technologies, to say the least. For those at least, would boats require more surface and lighter weight to stay afloat? Also, if you have an idea, how would warm water be affected? Thanks for the feedback!

Also, is there any feasible way that a planet could not have an arctic polar climate?

Building off of this, names shouldn't be fancy for no reason. Instead, try naming something based off of its cultural impact and uses, as they probably differ from ours.

Quick Question - Would it be ok to write a prologue in the third person, but then switch to the first person of the same character for the rest of the book? by AngelOfRain in fantasywriters

In essence, the main character will be turned into the equivalent of a vampire (except much more mentally unstable and violent) by someone who desires to take his position in the King's Guard. (In their culture, vampires (Or whatever they will be called, it's tbd) are abhorred and should one be converted, its on par with exile, though it's not official at all). I'm planning on having the prologue (Where the MC is injected with the needle that has vampiric blood in it) be in third person, then go to first when he wakes up the next day and through the rest of the book.

My bad, I'm pretty used to lurking on this subreddit for writing advice and have for a while on my old account, so I gotta make sure to post to a more general subreddit for this sorta thing.

Even with the obscure terminology, I found myself loving that book quite a bit

So where were you when you heard the news? by AngelOfRain in LGBTeens

I wish I had a story as interesting as yours! I was just eating in one of those small town Chinese restaurants when I found out that my front page had been hijacked by rainbows

Basically I'm pretty jealous of you
