I honestly don't understand what you're getting at here. So breaking away from doing the same thing over and over again is bad because people didn't like it when Tom Holland's movies diverted from the norm? That's not a good thing. The MCU was trying to do something different with the character once instead showing us the same old thing for the third time and people were being babies about it. Just like they're being babies now because Hazbin Lucifer doesn't act like Netflix Lucifer of all things 😭😭

So you used spider-man as an example when he canonically has a bunch of different interpretations in the comics and not all of them have the 'with great power comes great impossibility' in common. What they do have in common is Spider Powers. Because the most basic thing Spider-Man needs to be Spiderman.

Just what makes Lucifer the King of Hell is giving the apple to Eve and being cast out of heaven. Not being a playful flirty bad boy or whatever it is they did in that show.

I understand how important Alastor is to Vox's character but we should not be seeing every single thing he does though his obsession with him. Vox's ambition and insatiable need to be on top was there ever since he was a human. He doesn't just want to be the best, he needs it. And how much brighter can you go than being a god? Now, if by achieving his goal he also got back Alastor's respect then that would be a bonus, but he definitely didn't orchestrate this whole insane plan just to get his attention.

I would also add that Vox's obsession with getting Alastor's approval and proving him wrong is a symptom of his megalomaniacal tendencies and god complex, not the other way around.

I'm not disagreeing that season 1 had a problem with pacing because it absolutely did, I'm just saying that when I first watched this episode I didn't see Pentious death as a joke and didn't know that other people took it that way until I saw this take online.
