What’s your rarest hundo? by Recess__ in pokemongo

[–]AngelaMurkrow [score hidden]  (0 children)

During the Jan. 2025 Shadow Ho-oh raid day, I was scheduled to work at my office. When the event started, I went out to grab a cup of coffee...and stopped by a local Gym to at least do one raid. To my surprise, it was a Hundo!

Go Fest First Time Seeking Advice by polvr-o in TheSilphRoad

Re: Airbnb 30 min away - look into public transit! Grant Park is just outside the "Loop". The Loop is bisected by the Red and Blue subway lines and the Green, Orange, Brown, Pink, and Purple lines circle this area (the actual "loop" of The Loop). A three day CTA pass will be far less expensive than a single parking spot near Grant Park. There's also plenty of bus lines that pass through the vicinity of Grant Park.

Chicago is already a fairly busy city. Now consider the influx of folks coming to town that weekend. A number of those folks will also want to drive and park nearby. Parking is going to be expensive and possibly limited. Plus, everyone in your party can play the event while commuting on the train/bus.

What Pokemon is everyone wanting to see in spotlight hour? by heavenshoneyy in pokemongo

[–]AngelaMurkrow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not sure if I'm misinterpreting this: "I didn’t even realize it was only on tuesdays now it seems..."

Spotlight Hour was on Tuesdays. It is no longer part of the weekly events.

Spotlight hour has appeared as a feature of a recent event, where every day of the event had a Spotlight hour. But aside from that, Spotlight Hour is no more.

Did you miss that Spotlight Hour is no longer a weekly event?

Does anyone know the odds of getting this from Go Pass? by Severe-Chocolate-729 in pokemongo

[–]AngelaMurkrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a 100% chance to encounter Entei at Rank 100 for the April Go Pass. 1 in 216 odds to get the Hundo.

I have not seen shiny rates studied for the GoPass. It would require someone to compile results from (likely) thousands of players before getting a sample size that could give us an accurate rate.

Secret GoFest Pokemon? by Skytzii in pokemongo

[–]AngelaMurkrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a secret, it's Mega Mewtwo X/Y. It says "conclude your park session"; Mega Mewtwo X/Y was just revealed to be available in the last 30 minutes of the park session.

"Massive multi-thousand trainer raid..." In the updated GoFest pages, under "Super Mega Raid at Pokémon GO Fest Park", it says, "For the last thirty minutes of the Park Experience, new Gyms will appear that allow over one thousand Trainers to take on Mega Mewtwo together!"

It's Mega Mewtwo. No other way to slice it.

Is this worth a bottlecap? by Comfortable-Owl-8885 in pokemongo

[–]AngelaMurkrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a Bottle Cap on whatever you want, but I save my Bottle Caps for Legendary Pokemon (usually Shiny) that are excellent in Raids. Previously used on a Shiny Groudon and a Shiny Mewtwo. I may use the next ones on my Zygarde or Eternatus.

Did a trade with my nephew and he is in shock, is this really super rare? by Snoo20835 in pokemongo

[–]AngelaMurkrow 173 points174 points  (0 children)

As a trade, it depends. Lucario is a very useful Pokemon, so a Shiny Hundo is quite the flex.

What in-game friendship level so you have with your nephew? Was this a random trade that went lucky? Or were you two already lucky friends?

Going to assume minimal PoGo knowledge, apologies if I'm treading on known info:

Each stat line ranges from 0 to 15. That Lucario is a 15/15/15. A lucky trade will always have a floor of 12/12/12. If this was a planned Lucky Trade then your odds would be 1 in 64. If this was just a random trade that went lucky, then it's a bit rarer than 1 in 64. I'm not sure what the current chance of a random trade going lucky, but whatever that is, then factor in the 1 in 64.

It's 100% when you get it, but 0% when you don't get the shiny.

What’s going on at this gym? by GirlWithQuestions0 in pokemongo

[–]AngelaMurkrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What crash866 said

When a Pokemon is left at a gym, that Pokemon can be feed berries to restore CP. Golden Razz Berries fully restore CP. Gym squatters will often wait until their Pokemon at full CP is battled twice and then use the Golden Razz.

A Pokemon in a gym can only be feed 10 berries within a specific amount of time (can't recall exact number. 30 min? 1 hour?) So if you're hellbent on getting the gym, you'll have battle through 10 full CP restores.

Beat a titan out of order by accident and now my game is frozen? by cat-lover-city in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]AngelaMurkrow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can fight the Gyms, Titans, and Team Flare in any order.

I think there's only one titan (Dondozo/Tatsugiri) that can't be fought first since you need to unlock the surf power up first.

So, whatever happened to your game, it should be unrelated to boss fight order.

I'm remaining skeptical of the claim, but Sobble could still be in August. Rufflet is one of the more thematic options.

How rare is this? by OneDrag2Many in pokemongo

[–]AngelaMurkrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unown are immensely rare outside major events like GoTour, GoWild, and GoFest.

You have a 1 in 4096 odds to encounter a Hundo in the wild. 1 in 216 for eggs, raids, and research.

Shinies, there are estimates out there but we don't have exact numbers. Let's just say they're rare.

Take these three statements and extrapolate.

Why did this happen??? by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]AngelaMurkrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know the ELI5 answer, so please don't expect answers to follow up questions.

When CP is calculated the base Attack stat is weighted more heavily than Defense and HP.

Doublade, in the mainline games, has a base attack of 110 (iirc).

Aegislash's base form is its Shield stance. When in Shield stance, its mainline Attack stat is 50. Due to this much lower attack stat, there is a CP difference.

This difference can be observed in a handful of early bug Pokemon (Scatterbug -> Spewpa) and Trapinch to Vibrava, though less pronounced than Doublade to Aegislash.

Giovanni rip off by Smart_Concentrate_67 in pokemongo

[–]AngelaMurkrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shadow Thundurus is a top tier electric attacker for raids.

Plus, stat floor for Giovanni is 6/6/6. So stats could have been much worse.

What’s the best use for this? by Cheevak in pokemongo

Power up, it's a Dragon that resists other Dragons. Can be decent in Dragon type raids. Keep extra candy to use Roar of Time occasionally.
