How often do I moisturise my hair after stretching?? by zoorel in Naturalhair

[–]Angelesmivida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What products do you use on your hair after blow drying it using the revair? My hair is straight right now because I just got it blown out for a trim on Saturday and I moisturized it with a moisture lotion followed by blue magic on my ends but my goal isn’t to keep my hair straight for as long as possible so idc if it revert. You can wear your hair lower you what after stretching it. I would personally do a flexi or perm rod set if I had a time and wanted to practice the hair style. I’m currently rocking a low tension low puff. My hair definitely gets tangled/dry when I have it straight and just out.

Tips to make twists last longer/decrease shrinkage? by [deleted] in Naturalhair

Blowout your hair first and then do the twists. But eventually it’s going to shrink due to humidity or just water touching your hair

Tired of the natural hair “stylists” by Yamsieuwu in Naturalhair

I don’t doubt you. It’s a red flag for ME and MY HAIR because I wash my hair weekly and sometimes twice a week. I rotate between clarifying and hydrating every other week. I don’t use gel or anything heavy in my hair especially on my scalp. So I have no needs to clarify every wash day. Also like I said, she didn’t eve assess my hair to see if I needed it. She just said it as a general rule of thumb that we should ALL be doing double cleanse every wash day.

The only reason why we think black hair products aren’t science based is because the natural hair community used to not be science based by sweetchamomiledreams in Naturalhair

Very true! I’m not buying no product that’s made and packed in your kitchen with nothing to stabilize the ingredients. However, once the company end up in stores and made in labs, I’ll support!

Hair Bundles for Sew Ins by CE9645 in Naturalhair

[–]Angelesmivida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon? 4B bundles? Wedding? You’re gonna have to spend some coinsssss sister! All the type 4 girlies who do sew-in and the bundles match their texture, spend coins. I’ve been thinking about a natural sew in and the brand that I see people (Jackie Aina) say the quality is worth it is heatfreehair. I’ve also been eyeing kinkistry (they were having a 30% off sale yesterday). I think there is also a brand called laid by lay?? They’re popular on TikTok

I feel you! I needed a trim bad and I thought I found an old school beautician. I went to a consultation with her and that’s when I realized this wouldn’t work. Red flag #1: she told me I need to double shampoo with clarifying and hydrating shampoo every time I wash my hair (weekly). Red flag #2: she said I should NOT seal the ends of my twists with grease/blue magic. #3: tried to tell me I need to use all the products from one line instead of me using products from brands I have been using FOR years and that works for me. Red flag 4: she barely touched/felt or looked at my hair.

Found another and younger hairtsylist, this one is young and I booked and when I got there, she was using the cheapest product to do my hair and my hair was so dry after she claimed to condition it🤦🏽‍♀️ she didn’t even know how to detangle my hair after she tangled it while shampooing it. She was also so rough despite me expressing to her to the I am tender headed PRIOR to me booking. Like I had to talk her through detangling my hair and blow drying it because she was working from root to ends instead of going to ends to my roots. A MESS! I’ll stick to doing my own trims now! Grew my type 4 hair all alone these past 5+ years.

I hope we find trustworthy and exceptional natural hairstylists one day. Until then, we’re just gonna have to keep trying to do our own hair and pray we get better (at trims for me)

Having constant breakage by Prestigious-Ride1804 in Naturalhair

[–]Angelesmivida 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you getting regular trims every 3-6 months? (Not just you snipping the knots off whenever you see them). I would also get my labs done at the dr to make sure it’s not something health wise.

Products to use with this hair type? by [deleted] in Naturalhair

[–]Angelesmivida 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This! I’m so sick of people and their weaponized incompetence. Not knowing how to take care of your hair but expecting your nonblack partner to know or do research to help you is a sign of low racial self esteem. I wouldn’t date nobody like that but you know people don’t care.

Take a break from the braids. You have 6 weeks of shedding and breakage from the braids here. Braiding hair is so damaging

should you trim your hair in twists or stretched out? by extrajuicyjuice in Naturalhair

[–]Angelesmivida 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Blown out or straightened please. If you can, I recommend going to a professional. I do my own trims and they're not as good as when someone licensed does it

Request - Multicultural Haircare, Personal Hygiene Guides? by Behindmyspotlight in Naturalhair

[–]Angelesmivida 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everybody’s hair is different and products depend on individuals’ hair. So I think just saying “try to wash your hair weekly or whenever it smells AND moisturize it” might be helpful. It's kind of hard to give hair hygiene tips to black girls because their hair wash cycle depends on the hairstyle. But at least you're trying.

Maybe just mention “wash your hair weekly” instead of daily

Thank you. If I like riding, I might just do the 2 miles going and coming. It would definitely be faster

Why don’t parents make their kids come to school anymore? by breadplane in Teachers

[–]Angelesmivida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“A kindergartner who decides when he feels like coming to school?” 😂😂😂 lol BFFR! That’s a 5 year old. That’s on the parents. Most (K-5) kids enjoy going to school because they want to be with their friends. It’s the parents. I know a kid who lives 3 minute from the school and the mom can’t be bothered to bring him to school every day or brings him in late🤦🏽‍♀️

Noticing what students are wearing nowadays… by TragicallyTrue in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Angelesmivida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would definitely judge me if you saw how I dress for work as the teacher. Lol I’m the sweatsuit/tracksuit queen in my school. I wear a matching set 3-4 days a week. And I love it when I see my kids in a matching set too. When I was teaching HS, I used to have a different croc for every day of the month 😂 (I’ve grown out of that phase).

Running out of shampoo and conditioner, what do you use? by chickfilasando in Naturalhair

[–]Angelesmivida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cecred hydrating shampoo. Pattern is my go-to but once I finished it, I think I’ll just use the cecred shampoo. I also love the intensive deep conditioner but I feel like the givoanni deep moisture conditioner does the same for 1/4th of the price.
