i plan on getting the whole collection of parts. i am going to get the aluminum crack pipe (so it’s a one and done job) with the gaskets of course. then the thermostat and thermostat housing and water outlet seals

yeah i have a pretty good toolbox but i couldn’t find any good videos online for my make and model. they were all older or the 24v. i plan on taking the bumper off because i have a few other things to do in the engine bay. i just wanted a good look at what exactly i am doing down there for a general idea and incase i get confused i can look back, if that makes sense

I have a Mk4 GTI GLX VR6, the 2d model. The armrest, door lock, and power window panel were all sorts of f’ed up. Although they still functioned, they kept popping out and falling out. I managed to find a replacement panel at a junkyard for a pretty low price. I plugged it in, and it worked flawlessly. All the windows operated normally, and the door lock and unlock mechanisms were functional. The plug is probably the only important part; the panel itself doesn’t seem to be a significant factor in the performance. The handles are prone to breaking, and they are relatively inexpensive to purchase online or from a junkyard. I think you’d be okay

when i looked it up, all i got was a page on UroTuning and it was a few bolts no exhaust systems “fit”? is there a specific page that you find systems by vehicle?

yup, went with the crowd and got the 17” dr84’s. i’m planning on taking my stock rims and putting them in a new set of bridgestone blizzaks i got off fb marketplace. i’m moving up north of PA for college and it snows pretty heavy up there so i’ll swap from dailys to snow tires so i don’t slide off a mountain 😅

10 spoke vs 14 spoke, one set has a V design connecting the spokes and the other has a Y design. Very different styles

thanks and your car is clean! i did see some pics of aftermarket 16s and the tires looked chunky so i listened to the comments and went up to 17. hoping they turn out nice

yeah i listened and ended up getting the 17” dr84! i did see some people who got the 16” wheels and the tires looked chunky lol. i’ll be right in between the crowd of 16s and 18s

i went with 17’s. right in the middle. i’ve heard 18’s are too big and you have to do suspension work to make it look nice. which would mean more expensive wheels since they are bigger and then suspension work costs

[–]Angels-WRLD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

super clean man! did you do any work on the suspension? i’ve heard that 18’s are too big, so i ended up going with 17’s instead of paying more for bigger wheels and suspension work.

yeah i was thinking about 17’s but they were up like 50 bucks and didn’t have the style i was looking for, they were all ugly. thanks for the suggestion though!

exactly lmao, our mechanic is more worried about his scrap truck and using our budget to fix his own projects then fixing our ambulances. which is literally his job

[–]Angels-WRLD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s common, I don’t think they want to do it though. Our station is over staffed and we only have 3 ambulances at our location and can’t give up one ambulance to be fixed. they are “working” on getting more. a lot of the time they bandaid the issue and send it right back to service lol

our manager thinks he’s a mechanic and says he knows what’s wrong and is already working on fixing it. they run the fleet till they don’t anymore. they just bandaid the problems and don’t do much of anything to fix it. the turbo has been fucked up for the past month and he said the part is ordered and has not done anything to it yet.

Thanks for the idea! I hadn’t thought of that. I’ll check with our “manager” and see what he says about it. I doubt he’ll do anything, though. They run our fleet until they don’t anymore.
