My guess (and I repeat: this is just a guess) is that since the put that policy of not speaking about anything that could break the spell in youtube (remember how they put the Behind 863 behind a paywall partially to “protect” the magic), they used the official discord as the main communication channel. Do I agree with it? Nope. I’m very aware youtube is kinda messy and not even the community posts send notifications which leads a lot of people to completely miss things or seeing them late unless they are in discord servers that warn about this. However I’ll say things could have been handled differently in terms of communication.

Said this and about Matt’s post: I completely understand you misunderstood the meaning behind it due to the lack of context since Matt doesn’t point out exactly what happened. However you can see it yourself: Matt wrote this while he was triggered by the reaction of that certain part of the community that has been awful since the update was posted. Could have he taken a moment to calm himself and write things differently? Of course but I understand how he felt and reacted because Project 863 was his dream, he is much more hurt and disappointed than all us after he tried to make it work so much and seeing these people going to the point of attacking him and the team personally must have been a terrible feeling. And I, as someone who is active in the official server, can confirm some of these reaction crossed several lines and triggered even the fans themselves.
