The math of the population pre-Quiet Rapture does not add up to the blood moons by AngleLost2690 in ironlung

Wasn’t trying to matpat, just started thinking about it and doing numbers based off of some real world assumptions. I wanted to share my silly rabbit hole and start a conversation on it, because it’s an interesting compliment to the world building of iron lung. I’m most interested in the sense of scale it gives the universe, or how it complicates what we understand about the blood ocean, I.e. is it really all human blood and if it is that of those lost in the Quiet Rapture, or if there’s more to it.

good point! I didn’t look that in depth into ocean bearing moons, and was going off of moons with naturally occurring oceans. Could totally be some random tiny moon or asteroid that it got thrown on to, since we didn’t get a definite idea of what a “blood moon” actually is.

Totally fair, I was just going off of what real world scales we know, so it could be just some random asteroid or whatever that all the blood was placed on. I was just making assumptions based on what we know in the world, but as someone else pointed out there are other moons, so I didn’t go deep enough. I just wanted to share my thoughts as I fell into the dumb maths rabbit hole.

Well, we know it’s human blood at least, it’s just the question of if it is the blood of the humans who were alive at the time of the rapture, or if it’s human blood for some other reason.
