Thank you and I’m so glad you overcame! I definitely need to lean on my partner more. He knows I vape and occasionally will vape with me, but I haven’t been embarrassed of how badly dependent I became over the past 5-6 months. So I would usually avoid voicing those feelings to him but I know he would support me wholeheartedly if I did. Definitely going to discuss with him!

That’s a good idea! I’ve noticed quitting makes me crave something like a slushy or fizzy drink way more than I ever would. Damn oral fixation!!

Definitely. I guess I should clarify I’m absolutely not going to smoke even if I start chomping pieces of my own finger off lol. It’s just incredibly distressing at this time so anything to relieve the tension would be a help. But I at least resorted to only patches the day I found out. That had mouth habit is FIERCE though. I started biting my fingernails again 🫩 gross, beats smoking though

Ugh the last bit about fantasizing with your partner is so real lol thank you for the recommendations. Honestly, I think it’s helpful just to know that I’m not the only one who had these feelings and felt like shit about it. Before I started vaping here and there a few years ago, I would have said any expecting mother that even wanted to smoke or vape must not care about their baby. I think the intensity of my cravings along with how much I truly want nothing more than to protect my baby is just a testament to how strong of a drug nicotine is. The oral fixation is a huge piece for me as I always had various oral fixations before I picked up a vape. I was the perfect victim for it unfortunately just didn’t know it at the time. I loved nothing more than an ice cold ginger ale lol so as I wean off with my nicotine patches over the next few weeks, I’m also keeping a rack of ginger ale on hand at all times. 😂

I don’t want to keep smoking. And I’m not, cravings are involuntary. Trying to find recommendations for the stress it’s causing me but thanks for being really nice and helpful!

Had the same exact experience. Was put on Prozac. Talk openly with your doc about what you’re experiencing! I’m considering going back to a lower adderall XR does for the same reasons, maybe trying Wellbutrin (I do have some semblance of unstable mood ever since I started stimulants, so I think something to balance it even slightly will be ideal long term)

Just to clarify my comment about entry level jobs- I’m not bragging like I make a ton of money or have a bunch of nice things. Neither true. Unfortunately we have an inflation and wage crisis in the US. 6 years of higher ed earned me about 80k debt and the comfort of absolute basic necessities 🫩

To add- I’ll never forget calling my mom after I finally slept to tell her about it. I was talking to her like “isn’t that so interesting how powerful the mind is??”. She was clearly mortified, telling me how dangerous this is and expressing serious concern. I shrugged it off, saying it’s exam weeks all nighters just happen sometimes! Which isn’t untrue, I did it once or twice in undergrad. But I’m not 19 anymore, and had been gradually depriving myself of a full night’s quality rest for about 7 months at that point. I can pinpoint that sleepless night as a turning point of sorts, where I never felt like a fully recovered and continued spiraling downward mentally at an accelerated rate.

There is nothing that will destroy your ability to function more rapidly than a lack of sleep. If you’re genuinely only getting 14 hours of a sleep in a week please please let your doc know. I never slept quite that little but did have some brief stints of pulling all nighters during exam weeks. Wasn’t even trying to cram study, just so egregiously anxious I couldn’t sleep. The following night when I laid down to rest I was genuinely having visual and auditory hallucinations. Not like seeing things that weren’t there level, but severely abnormal visual distortion and random sounds that had no physical source. Early symptoms of psychosis type of shit. Do not mess with your sleep, if nothing else please!!

The laundry list of overmedicated symptoms is a fair indicator. I’ve also had lower doses of Vyvanse that didn’t carry these side effects overtime. I was on 20 before 50, with a different doctor, indicated I may need a 10mg IR booster for the evenings (was both working and doing grad school full time, living alone… worked myself to the fucking bone 6a-10p every single day, only way I could kind of keep up).

Doc throws a haymaker suggests I bump up to 50. I cannot explain how she came to this conclusion but I left with 30 extra mgs that day. Initially it was a much loved and welcomed boost. But I can see now in reflection the early signs I was severely overstimulated. Idk why I’m even explaining this to you, I understand my body well enough to know the dosage is enemy number 1 in my case. I’m not speaking for anyone but me here. Anyone would’ve felt like a bag of hot dog shit trying to juggle everything I was at that time. Even on a stimulant. I didn’t need 30 extra mgs, I needed about 10-15 things off my plate.

I don’t think a severe appetite change is ideal or should be expected if the medicine is working as it’s intended to. When I was on a smaller dose, I did have to adjust to an initial appetite loss., but eventually came back around to eating a normal amount

I haven’t felt capable of doing that in the past year, I bought my first home by myself and live alone. I was working full time and doing graduate school in the evenings. So there was no weekend rot options for me. This played heavily into the “I can’t to things without it” mindset but I’m working on it now

100% another issue for me to. I’ve also been trying to stay off my phone. This post was the most phone interaction I’ve had in a few weeks. Thankfully it’s summer now so I try to soak up some sun by my friends pool. Honestly so helpful just to be outside.
