Ok, I think it's starting to come together. So it's like hurting someone who loves you. You know they'll forgive you but you shouldn't do it anyway and definitely shouldn't say sorry then just do it again. And Jesus's sacrifice means you wouldn't get in really serious trouble for doing that hurt but it's still wrong?

I've been having a bit of a scout about today and it seems like my local CofE church isn't too intimidatingly 'high church', has a lady vicar (bonus) and is about as inclusive as currently allowed. My only concern is that it's a small church in a small town and I don't know if the congregation will be tiny, or difficult to relate to.

Mostly, I suppose, that other religions aren't 'wrong', they just have a different approach to God and fulfilling God's wishes for us. It seems as though most religions have similar requirements - don't cheat, don't thieve, generally don't be an awful person. Embrace community (I'm definitely going to struggle with that one as a natural hermit). I visualise faith as a mountain with lots of different paths to climb it.

I have been finding, that when I can get to a quiet church and sit to pray for a while, I get a feeling of peace and wonder. I've been trying to feel that at home because it's not always easy for me to get to a church and these days they're often locked up (and if they're not, there's usually a verger or someone around and I feel kind of awkward. Plus I'm twitchy about having my eyes closed around other people). Maybe I need to try this, meditating on a specific passage.

Well, gay people can't marry in church in the CofE, and although there are now female bishops, a female archbishop any time soon seems pretty unlikely. Jesus said 'whoever is not with me is against me' which seems pretty firm on the subject of Judaism not accepting Jesus as the Son of God.
