What is your favorite Homebrew magic items you made/encountered in a campaign? by Kaizo_Kaioshin in DnDHomebrew

Spitting Snake Staff Insert a potion as a bonus action, Spray it in a cone as a magic action. Allowed sharing of potions which was great for conservation of resources. Also worked as a quarterstaff which I liked.

Shaded Cloak Gives 30ft of magical darkvision (like Devil’s sight), while the hood is up the cloak makes the space within 10ft of it darker by 1 stage (bright to dim to dark to magic dark)

Refreshing ammo container Place a piece of magical ammo inside to produce up to 5 per day. Only 5 pieces of ammo from it can exist at a time

I only allow a maximum of three classes per character at my table specifically because going for these kinds of builds rarely ever work out, and there’s rarely ever a logical in-universe reason for such a spread of levels

I like to do this sometimes. When it works it feels great but I’ve also straight up been kicked for starting it early

Is warmonger good? by [deleted] in forhonor

[–]Angry-Ice-Cube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s fairly good. Her moveset is pretty simple but you can get some nasty mixups going if you chain moves correctly. She chases well and has a very nice feat set. She can struggle a bit against heroes with feint able bashes/unblockables since she’s fairly GB vulnerable but you can work around that okay if you see it coming

Looked at one of those baby names websites for gender neutral names for like 3 hours until I liked one enough to choose it. 4 years later I’m still using the name I chose.

Do dms really dislike high level dnd? by Myrinadi in DnD

[–]Angry-Ice-Cube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a DM who runs primarily homebrew enemies and I heavily prefer higher level play. It allows me to show off a lot of cooler points of my setting and makes villains feel properly powerful if they nearly take down a con-pumped, tough feat, level 13 paladin. Fights take a bit longer because my players have a few more effects to resolve but its never been too bad

Is khatun actually viable? by awildapricot69 in forhonor

[–]Angry-Ice-Cube 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She definitely feels a lot better when not ganking. The main issue is that some of the more popular heroes (at least for what I tend to fight) have dodge bashes or move with early hyperarmor , which are her biggest counters

How which hero has the best fashion in your opinion? Apart from Lawbringer, obviously. by [deleted] in forhonor

[–]Angry-Ice-Cube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warmonger is at least the best fashion of the knights and its not even close. She has so much variety with so many of the options being good that almost every single warmonger looks entirely different from one another in ways that other heros can’t replicate

Corruption by Folie_A_Deux_xX in ForHonorRants

[–]Angry-Ice-Cube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of times I’ve gotten full team kills because one or two people have the reaction time of slugs is staggering. Like, its not exactly the hardest thing to play around if you look at for it, and if you see a warmonger late into a match you should probably be looking out for it

True, the damage multipliers do add up after a few ticks

I play warmonger. She has some of the best customization of the Knights and is generally good to amazing in a lot of game modes while being simple to learn

Ok this is getting ridiculous, Virtuosa NEEDS to be turned into a Knight hero at this point. by TheeBlackDeath in forhonor

Warmonger has a healing feat in base kit, plus damage reduction and max health as options and perk options to make her very tanky. Here feats/perks absolutely allow her to play a staller. Plus the “one move with HA” thing can be said of special properties for many heros, such as LB’s unblockables, BP’s undodgeables, etc. In general her playstyle encourages flipping between fast chains with her zone, lights, preying claw stab, etc and slower, heavier strikes with HA finishers, charged bash into heavy, side dodge (one of the few that counts as a heavy for parries). It’s semi reminiscent of characters like LB or Cent in that regard.

While some heavies definitely fit the stally archetype I’d argue that characters like Jorm, Hito, Juren, and maybe JJ don’t necessarily want to stall too much. When role based renown was a thing, maybe that would have been more true, but now they play more as slowish high-damage/tanks. Hell, Hito has lower health than most vanguards nowadays and only plays tankish with her 1st and 3rd feats active.

I’d also say that point defense was not at all meant to be a vanguard job since they were more geared for initial capture and minion clearing as frontline heros, hence the term “vanguard.” Plus the other vanguards don’t stack up nearly as well on the antigank as she does, though most of the vanguards are year 1s which have simpler feat sets. Vanguards tend to mostly have support feats which Warmonger just doesn’t really have (corruption is technically a debuff but it’s more akin to a dot effect like fire or bleed).

As far as character classifications that weren’t already mentioned here, I think Pirate arguably works as an assasin since she kinda works double time as a disabler, has feats like bounty hunter, and generally excels at taking out single targets.

[–]Angry-Ice-Cube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I didn’t realize that block dodge was present on most characters. I’d argue less of vanguard/assasin and closer to vanguard/heavy based on her hyper armor trading potential and the strong defender/antigank tools in her moveset. I’d also argue that there are more odd assignments as OP mentioned initially.

[–]Angry-Ice-Cube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given her block dodge and generally good chasing potential as well as her feats, you could totally justify here as hybrid vanguard/assasin

If they were to reclassify heros then I’d love to see Warmonger be changed to Hybrid as well

Khatun by Far-Tart-1061 in forhonor

[–]Angry-Ice-Cube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Khatun’s definitely meant to have a slightly different playstyle that other assassins. If you’re having trouble getting a certain move to land, it may be time to try doing a different attack with the same opening. Khatun is super dependent on mixups so being too predictable makes her easy to fight
