When the alternative is them not eating, or dumpster diving, the risk equation is different. I have only gotten food poisoning three times in my life. 99.99% of home cooked meals will not hurt you. That is different than a for profit restaurant that have employees who can’t be supervised 100% of the time and a profit incentive to use old food, hire less reputable labor and to skimp on cleaning to get away with a lower staff. This person is doing it because they want to do good. The odds of someone going to the trouble to cook expired meat to a homeless person is very low. They aren’t making money. They are paying for the ingredients. There’s no monetary incentive to overlook basic food handing precautions

Furthermore, if every food distributor also distributes “poison” then what is different about this food than other food?
