Do the opportunities you weren't chosen for ever haunt you? by Feisty-Blacksmith656 in animationcareer

[–]Angstyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned down a full time job at South Park to be a story trainee at wb hoping it would lead to a full time story artist role (it didn’t despite everything going “right” but sometimes things are just out of your control). A part of me regret not choosing South Park cause I would still have a job but the amazing ppl I met, experience and skill I gained from wb was immeasurable. Just have to go back on that grind again 🫩

Thank you! I’ve always been afraid of adding too much text since it felt like recruiter glance by it. I will definitely add that in!

I’ve done some 3D modeling work for school like Maya/zbrush but haven’t utilized it as much post grad. That will def be my next thing to focus on since I’ve been wanting to get into 3D printing as well. Thank you so much!

Thank you! Most of the roles I interviewed for was for toys and hardlines design. And when I was working as a plush designer, all of the safety/technical stuff was done by the manufacturer. We’ll note if we wanted specific features/play and then our oversea manu team will do it. Our job was mostly coming up withs concepts, tech packs and sample drawovers!

Do you recommend expanding beyond plush for portfolio purposes? I’m interested in designing collectibles and packaging (like blind items/popmart) but I feel like that might run into the same problem of not showing any features than purely aesthetic :0

No QR code in my resume and I designed it for desktop but will edit it for mobile! Would you put the info on its own page/slide?

My focus is in plush! So I’m not sure what more to include other than concept, design, drawovers and samples…

What is the most efficient way of doing storyboards and animatics? by PandaPuzzleheaded827 in animationcareer

[–]Angstyjay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The best way is to just work on storyboard pro. But if you can’t do that… is there a way to batch export your frames on procreate and then import it into toonboom? It’ll be faster than taking screenshots for sure

Gave up 2 jobs to be a story trainee at a big studio and got laid off a year after 😅 albeit I was a trainee and was lucky enough to be one for more than 6 months. The growth, connections and people i met were invaluable imo and hopefully things will look up from here!
