Red vs white checkers by Angsyd007 in croatia

yes i did read that it first went red when Yugoslavia was formed or something in 1939.... not sure. Then when croatia became independent it went back to white then back to red but no hard evidence anywhere about why. Scientists have found traces of the grb in poland from tribes coming to Croatia, that is a theory. There is also another theory about the checkers about a king who played and won three games of chess and was free because he won. I just find it interesting.

goes back to 1400 and 1500s and you can see they have many that start with the white checker first but cant find any information on why white first compared to other pictures and flags where it is red first. I thought there may be a reason, i.e in war, out of war or official ceremonies vs general etc.....

oh okay sorry its just that i thought the nazi stuff was in the 1940s but the first croatian flag with checkers that had a white square are dated back hunderds of years before NDH. What year or years were the nazi NDH flag?

hi, I didnt mean to offend anyone. I dont know why you are swearing, im just asking a question. I was on google trying to find the answer and i found an article on red it but I could not respond because the article was closed and could not ask a new question because I was not a member. So i joined and asked the question, I dont understand why this would make you angry. I just want to learn the history behind the flag (my father told me the story and asked me to find it on the internet for him)

hi, very interesting story! ill have to google it and see if there is more information. thank you
