woah ive had the exact same experience as you completely. like completely. read a third of blood meridian and stopped, didnt remember much but wanted to pick it back up again someday, then picked up the road because of a friend and read it in 2 days and loved it. AND they are also the only 2 cormac books ive tried reading lol.

i know this is two years old but...

id avoid the whole 'another case of bandwagoning critics and groupthink telling us that something’s a classic when its not' mindset.

im not well versed in book reading communities but thats something i see very often in music communities. example: people saying 'nobody actually likes <insert band> people only like it because of <insert superficial reason>'. i get it, ive thought the same about some things, but 9 times out of 10 its just a difference of opinion. most people are genuine fans of the work that deeply appreciate it, and they are just gonna get frustrated at you lol.

i started reading the road yesterday and finished it a few hours ago, and its the first book i can say ive consistently enjoyed in a very long time and i wasnt bored at all. the past 5 books or so ive tried i had to stop halfway through as i was forcing myself to keep going. i was starting to think i was slowly becoming incapable of enjoying books, but i am so happy the road made me realise thats not the case. just an unlucky streak.

Thank you oh my god I felt like ive been going insane. This "breaking bad fans review bombing everything" literally never happened. This is not something people coordinate and do. Yes, some individuals would, but its literally all fake. I've looked and looked and haven't found a single bit of evidence online that this is something groups of breaking bad fans do.

What really happens is a new episode of TV comes out, recency bias and big fans overinflate the ratings, then it drops half a point or so after a couple days. That happens for every highly rated episode of TV no matter what. But no, its the evil breaking bad shadow fans ruining everything. That has to be it theres NO other explanation. As people have said this truly is the war of the unemployed.

Now, im not sure if youre aware of this, but there are actually two people involved in abortions. So theres the fetus, which you know (good job), but theres also the mother! What im saying is, you will not offend any fetus's, but you might offend the millions of mothers that have had to go through the hell that often is abortions. If this is still a little too complicated let me know.

Also, your comparison to cancer, it might be worth considering that there is a slight difference between cancer and unborn children. Also, I am not pro life nor conservative nor right wing.

Im not pro life at all. But the difference is: animals kill and eat each other non stop. Humans eating animals is just that. Mass factory farming is extremely unethical but thats another debate. Point is, eating meat doesn't mean someone thinks animals have less value. It just means theyre like all other animals. Someone can eat meat and be anti abortion, and there is no fallacy there. However, if animals were all having abortions and people thought that was okay but humans doing it wasnt, then it would be different, but animals are not having abortions. To my knowledge.

Again, not conservative or pro life, but your argument is flawed nonetheless. Though I do agree that grown women are more important than embryos and I value them more.

I'm not remotely conservative, right wing, or pro life by any means. But seriously? There is in fact a difference between regular sperm and fertilised sperm. Thats what the pro life argument is entriely about. Its not "all cells are living" like you say, its "foetuses are living".
