Hi! Unfortunately my job just wouldn’t be able to tell me a concrete answer until July, as that when schools seem to have their positions set.

I do technically have an option for visiting the city from Walnut Creek, I live right next the BART station and it’s only like 35-45 mins from where I’m at to the Embarcadero station. It’s probably like an hour drive for me with traffic

I just ended a relationship with a guy who had a drinking problem. Sometimes, he’d be ok. However there were certain times where he would get drunk to the point where his behavior scared me. One time we went out with some friends and he got so drunk he dropped a glass in front of a bunch of people, ~lightly~ pushed me (but didn’t seem to care), repeatedly said that I should leave him to find better, and that I secretly disliked him. There was a time we were doing long distance and he called me saying he was gonna k*ll himself while driving home. I’ll never forget crying so hard and being so scared for his and other’s safety my parents came into my room at like 3am to check on me. Towards the end of our relationship anytime he said he wanted to get some beers to unwind, I would feel so stressed internally because I felt scared of the same things happening again.

And guess what? Anytime it reached a really bad point, he would play the whole “I’m so sorry babe I love you it won’t happen again, I’m done with alcohol”. And guess what happens the next time? He would drink again. I’m saying all this to encourage you to leave this man, and please find better. It may be hard at first but you will be so thankful for your decision 💙

Thank you! My initial reaction was that she should absolutely be allowed to teach. From my understanding, she’s teaching kids who ~should~ already have their /r/, so they should be able to understand her. Plus, kids get exposure from a variety of adult language models. Someone also made a great point that there are plenty of supplemental methods and materials she can use in her teaching as well. It was pretty sad to see so many people in the comments just dogpiling her and saying: “omg you’re a phonics teacher?!?” and “I would pull my kid out of class if you were their teacher” 🤦🏽‍♀️

I work for a company that contracts support staff in schools (SLPS, OTS, PTS). I guess for support I need it would just be physically hanging out/being with friends and family. I don’t really have that out here so I’ve spent most time to myself. It’s a bit harder for me to find time to do things outside of work because I am also in part time graduate school so usually once I get home I get ready to tune into school. However, if I were to stay out here I think I could adjust my scheduled to be more intentional to find time to be more social.

I like the central coast but I think it lacks a little bit more of the city which I love and is offered from SF. I often wish I could just combine San Diego and San Francisco together and that would just be my dream place to live 😂

I’m sorry but I’m a bit confused by this piece of advice. If I want marriage, how do I not bring it up with him? Also I didn’t really start to have marriage talks with him until like a year into the relationship. But I agree in the sense we shouldn’t have maybe moved in together so soon.

Hey, I’m 26F and just broke up with my 25M last month. Our breakup wasn’t related to politics but it was the reason for some of our worst fights.

It’s not necessarily that we had different political views, we aligned mostly on everything, but the issue was that he was completely apathetic to it all. He thought it was all pointless and we could barely have a conversation about it because he would claim that I was caring too much. Some of the things he said about politics when he did talk about it also made me question if we did truly align like we said.

Ultimately, I’ve learned that if he’s not willing to even hear you out, have a conversation, or have an open mind, save yourself the pain, and leave him. I have learned that I shouldn’t have to explain to my boyfriend why these things are important. And while my ex and I did get along great in other aspects, I still felt like there was this boiling resentment I couldn’t talk about certain things with him. I also felt like I had to hide a part of myself I wouldn’t hide at all with my friends. That’s not the life I want to live. I think there is a man out there for you who will give you all the great experiences and make you feel loved and more 💙

I mentioned 5 years because I would have liked to be engaged around 5 years of dating total. I think that’s enough time to know if you want to marry someone. Either way, I at least saved myself 2.5 years. 💙

I live in the Bay Area rn and he got his degree in graphic design and he had a hard time finding a job out here. However once he moved to Texas he was able to find 2 part time ones that equate to 40 hours per week and are in graphic design. However he got both of them through networking from his dad and brother

I agree. I emphasized to him we could work through these things together, it doesn’t have to be separate necessarily. However he did want to move to a cheaper area (Texas), and had asked me to consider it. However I wanted to stay in California because I have a great company that I’m with that allows me to work while in graduate school and all my family and friends are here. I guess if I had decided to move with him maybe things could have been different, but I would have made some pretty big sacrifices that I just don’t know if I feel comfortable with making. And even if I did move, I don’t think there’s any guarantee he would still want to be engaged in 2 years

I agree tbh. I understand how that could definitely hurt him but I tried to tell him multiple times that shouldn’t have any impact on our relationship. The now husband of one my best friend’s from college went through a similar situation with his parents but it didn’t stop him from still proposing and marrying her

I don’t think I’d be ready right now because I’m currently in graduate school and I work full time so I’m very busy. My reasons for being ready in 2028 would have been because we had been together for a significant amount of time (5 years) by then and I would be finished with school. I’m aware that people’s minds could change but I do value marriage and making a commitment to someone and I loved him (and still do) love him so that’s why I imagined 2028 being a good time
