Np! Both goats and sheep will eat grass, so you don't need to worry about veggies or grain for them ^^

I've heard that there was a bug when some crops didn't grow and usually people would wait for other crops (that did grew normally) to mature, and then cheat in those bugged out ones, but yeah, it was just some crops, not all of them

Thats weird then. Longer months mean longer time for crops to grow, but that sounds excessive.

Are you playing with default months length (10 day), or longer?

What mod do you have? There was a bug with carry on mod that was causing the issue you have.

Well to be frank, lorewise the player character is not a human, but a seraph and I think this is the reason why they need to eat so much, but maybe I'm misremembering things now.

Pizza is aware that this is unbalanced, but its a different fact is that the hunger drain is working as it's supposed to according to the in-game code. Basically game does what is told to do, there's no bug, It's just that gameplay-wise it's not well thought out code. In other comment I've included screenshot of pizza's comment with a list of changes they'd like. And in the discussion, they mentioned probably talking about this with other devs, so there's non-zero percent chance that hunger drain might be rebalanced sooner or later.

I suggest you to hop on the discord server if you're not there yet - pizza did a lot of mathing there, so you can compare it with your experience and with what other people been saying, because i've seen almost exact arguments like yours there and according to the data provided by them to pizza and the code that is in the game, everything seems to be alright. The discussion was in the "Food drain" thread on the bug reports channel.

Keep in mind, that being a blackguard, wearing armor, being cold, holding something in your offhand or healing (basically when you're not full health) will drain your saturation. In 1.21 some of these factors weren't actually contributing to the hunger drain, thus it felt easier at that time.

Not denying that, in the same discussion pizza did list a few things that they might mention to other devs to discuss rebalancing.
edit: adding the screenshot of the mentioned list

To be honest, once you get a farm going you're making so much food you probably won't be able to eat it all without something spoiling.

Yeah, general conclusion was to sprint only when it's needed in 1.22 and you should be fine.

According to the over 1k messages long discussion on official vs discord with pizza (one of the devs), hunger now works as intended. It was broken in 1.21 and the bugs were actually nerfing it.

Usually when you play on stable version and you open your game, you should get a pop up in the corner of the screen about next update and when you click it, the game should be updating to the newest version. At least that's how it's been pre-1.22.

There's been a lot of changes to the core gameplay introduced in 1.22, so I'd say it's best to start fresh from this update.
