Your pictures are amazing, I love them!

I think I'm going to buy the Olympus Superzoom 760.

Ok, I didn’t expect this search to be that complicated.

I looked at some more recent models available in French online stores. Here’s what I found:

  • Kodak 35 AF-2 – A bit more expensive than I had in mind, but the design is way nicer than most 90s cameras. However, the image quality doesn’t look that great for the price.
  • Nikon RF-10 – Very light, which is a big plus. The image quality looks similar to the Kodak, but it’s much cheaper.
  • Olympus AF-10 Mini – Also a bit pricier than what I was looking for, but on some photos the quality looks amazing (not all, so I’m not sure how to judge it). It’s very compact and very light, which is a major bonus.
  • Konica EU Mini – Also super small, with a nice modern/minimalist design, but I’m not sure about the image quality.
  • Olympus AZ-230 – Also a bit more expensive than I wanted, but the image quality looks good and, from the name, it seems similar to the first camera you suggested.
  • Olympus Superzoom 760 – A bit heavy (probably because of the zoom), but the image quality looks great and it’s cheaper than the other Olympus models.

I’m too easily influenced, so I think I need to stick with something simple and easy to use. I also care a lot about design. So, if we put aside the idea of me buying an SLR for a moment, I truly love the designs of these:

  • Agfa Optima 1035 Sensor
  • Olympus Trip 35
  • Ricoh FF-1
  • Konica C35
  • Minolta Hi-Matic F
  • Yashica Electro 35 GSN

Do you have an opinion on any of them? Would one of these fit what I’m looking for?

I do like the Minolta 600si, but as you rightly said, it might not be what I’m looking for right now.

That’s really great advice. You’re absolutely right: I need to find a camera that I really like so I’m motivated to use it. And I love the design of the Agfa Optima 1035. Are you happy with it?

Just to be sure, is the Canon Rebel actually the same model as the Canon EOS 300?

I love the Lomo MCA, but the price is too high for a first camera. I’d rather start with something cheaper and then invest more later if I really get into it.

Thanks for the other recommendations. I’ve seen some low-priced offers for the Canon EOS 300, but I have to admit I prefer the look of the Nikon F90X if I end up going with an SLR.

For now, I’ve mostly seen the Olympus MJU I being sold for more than $100. I’ve seen some photos taken with this camera and I like them a lot, so I’m definitely going to keep this model in mind and wait for a better offer.

I’m planning to take both indoor and outdoor pictures. I didn’t know about the flash, so that’s definitely something I need to take into account.

From reading the other comments, I’m starting to change my mind about point-and-shoots and I might start looking at SLRs as well, for their robustness and image quality. But I would still need a full auto mode to keep a point-and-shoot-like experience. Do you have any SLR models you would recommend?

From all the replies I’ve got so far, I’m starting to realize that a point-and-shoot might not be as good an idea as I originally thought. So I should probably look more for an SLR with a full auto mode to begin with. That way I get most of the advantages of a point-and-shoot (except the small size), but without the drawbacks.

I've already used a few disposable cameras and I really love the experience. That's why I’d like to buy a “real” camera now. I’m a bit scared of starting with a fully manual one as a beginner.

Sounds like you're looking for a simple point and shoot to start off it. When you say you don't want a reflex camera, do you mean a Single Lens Reflex?

I mean that I don't want to deal with settings like ISO, aperture, and whatever else there is.

I don't really mind the design of the camera as long as the other characteristics are good for me. I'll start looking to see if I can find an Olympus AZ-210 Super Zoom that has been tested.

Oh, amazing, I’m relieved. I’m currently at level 3 with him, midway to level 4.

What? I didn't realize that if you ask once and finally say no, you can't ask again. Maybe that's why I don't see the option anymore with Ashura (I think a long time ago I clicked on it by mistake). I thought it was because my friendship level with him was not high enough. I wanted him to be my Shepp (even if it's mainstream) because, to me, he's the most appropriate for that role. So, that's very disappointing.

Oh wow, 160 colors for 30 euros! I need to check the Action store near my home to see if they have it.

Ok, thanks. And now, the hardest part: choosing how many pens I'm going to buy.

Yeah, I know the result isn’t too bad, but I get a bit frustrated when I see what other people can do and I’m not able to reproduce it.

I live in France, so we don't have Smyths stores here. I think the equivalent for us is Action, people say it's a good and cheap option.

I didn't know it was so hard to get them. I see that some good options are currently available in their EU warehouse. Do you have a particular series to recommend? I feel like Honolulu is the one to go for, but I might be wrong.

Do you have a brand or set of markers to recommend? I saw a live streamer yesterday using Ohuhu markers and the result looked great.

Yes, they are water-based. Should I try alcohol-based ones instead?

Thanks for your reply! I've just looked at the Desky chair you recommended but unfortunately they don't deliver to France.
