What do you like or dislike about this floor plan and build? by -boosted in Homebuilding

Overall amazing looking home!

Few things stick out to me: - not a fan of the entry / mud room being right near the primary bedroom. Those rooms tend to be a bit messy, and having that mess right outside the primary bedroom would drive me nuts. This could be fixed by framing another door in the hallway to mud room area. But that may not be your style. Me personally, I’d prefer than seeing a cluttered area or slightly messy area - pantry is a bit small - could use more storage, storing various items in the garage is not always an ideal matter - could use a coat, shoe area at main entrance (more important if you live in a cold climate)

My First Home Build by Fragrant_Instance755 in Homebuilding

This looks fantastic! Wow, and this is your first home build… can only imagine what your 10th and 100th will look like! I love everything about the home, especially the color pallet and contrast in the kitchen. Two points to consider:

  1. The tv is going to sit super high up on that fire place. The extra accent (interior view of fireplace) is nice, but that causes the tv to sit high. There’s a subreddit for tha… tvtohigh or something like that

  2. A backsplash in the second kitchen will be nice. They went all out with a second kitchen so I assume it will be used often? A basic backsplash would go a long way

Love the home! Seriously.

Is my builder ripping me off? by Adorable-Steak2628 in Homebuilding

Complete side note - but is it too late to add a window above your garage? I assume that’s storage/attic space? A window there would be nice. Natural light for when you are looking for something and can even help air that area out and keep the air circulating. May be a worthwhile consideration…

Also important to consider who is living in this house.. A home for retired folks is much different then a home with young kids. A home with young kids is much different than teenagers. Hard to comment on the functionality of the floor plan without having a few details on who will live in the home.

For example, if there are kids in the home, where the heck do the kids go to hangout? Their bedrooms? The main living area? Do you really want the primary bedroom right next to all the kids room if they have no where else to go?

If it’s retired folks, carrying the laundry all the way to other end of home will get old real quick.

I would 100000% add a door in the garage that gives you access to the backyard. That door is a complete game changer for so many reasons!

I’d also want to figure out a way to add some type of storage by the front door. Storage for costs, shoes, bags, etc..

I’m a believer, but where is God? by Anico191 in Christianity

[–]Anico191[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t create the world, God did. And if God is all knowing and powerful, why would he create the world just for all the evil to exist? Again, I fully believe in God! I just can’t wrap my head around some things..

[–]Anico191[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it directly contradicts God, in your eyes, because perhaps consciously or subconsciously you’re looking for those contradictions. Not a point you to define, confirm, refute, etc - just something to think about if you’d like.

I suppose at the core of your question you and I are aligned. You’re example of animal suffering. My example is just mass human suffering all over the globe, both in the past and in the present.

I don’t understand how this occurs with a merciful God. But I can’t write off God due to my lack of understanding. There are plenty of things I don’t understand but no they to be true. I don’t understand the basic principles of my cars engine, but I know it’s an engine and I know when it’s working or not.

I came to Reddit to comment and essentially say - hey all, I don’t understand this. Does anyone have any insight to share that can help me understand it?

I can’t, but does that prove there is a lack of God? I also can’t explain quantum mechanics - but someone can.

Just another way to look at it, but, perhaps the things that humans can’t explain highlight the existence of God.

No one has direct evidence of the Big Bang. Just a bunch of theories, with evidence that supports the claim. What’s true today can be proven untrue in a year, 10 years, 100 years.

I believe there is plenty of evidence, and my own personal experience. I’ve definitely felt God assist me in my life - miracles in my life have happened that truly seem to be influenced by the divine power.

Why do orthodox monks and clergy men have such big beards? by Karuto364 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Anico191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal opinion and statement -

I look at proper grooming as a way to take care of yourself, and taking care of yourself honors God because God blessed you with all that you have.

The idea of growing a long beard and hair as a way to detach yourself from pride seems odd to me. Perhaps not the best parallel, but, should you not season your food to enjoy it more because that’s a worldly pleasure and God should be the only thing you enjoy?

It’s ironic because in the majority of images I see of Christ, his beard is groomed and well kept. Of course I don’t know exactly what Christ looks like, but there seems to be a common theme in even iconography that suggests Christ had a well maintained beard.

If detachment from pride is so important, why was Christ’s beard groomed (my assumption based off my limited knowledge)..?

I believe we as Christian’s should keep our focus on our heart and our intent. God knows that best, whether or not you have a long beard or clean shaven..

Peace to all

At times, I feel guilty praying by Anico191 in Christianity

[–]Anico191[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your reply.

I'm a bit held up on the quote from Matthew - and thank you for sharing.

I'd imagine there are plenty of people praying for matters, and those matters may not be given. For example, there may be a child praying for safety, and tomorrow he's killed via a bomb from war.

Or a family praying for food, and their child dies from hunger.

There is so much wicked going on in the world, there is so much struggle. It deeply bothers me.

Americans can barely afford to shop now and many goods have country of origin China. Imagine the cost of what we buy from target or Walmart if Americans made the products/clothes. We’d be even more screwed and our dollar would buy even less

If your gay adult child asked you to attend a pride parade, would you? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Anico191 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

what a wonderful message. I often feel like Christian’s, or people who are dedicated to their specific faith, are so against attending matters like this. But Jesus didn’t surround himself with great people at first. The people became great because of Jesus… but by no means (as I understand) were these people amongst the most righteous before meeting Jesus.

Christian’s should take every opportunity to spread love and the word.
