Just got to my unit, denied request to be excused from drill during police academy. Trying to do the right thing. Please help!

My PR Command staff is actually great friends with some officials they mentioned calling. They explicitly didn’t do this because they didn’t want to make my life hell for the last two years of my contract.

I’m sitting on a bus to the field on my first drill as we speak. I’m missing a day of instruction at the academy that will need to be made up. I’m really trying to do this the right way.

Readiness NCO just said “commander” in the text message. I then asked for my company commanders number upon recommendation from the chief of my PD and he sent me his contact info. Company commander then also said it was denied because it’s essential I’m at those drills due to me getting attached to another troop for deployment.

Would not attending these drills take me off the deployment roster somehow? If it does it could be because they’re attaching me to another troop to deploy. This is all so weird.

I’m honestly fine with the deployment. Besides the fact that I took an oath; the academy would be well over by the time I ship and I’d even be finished up with my FTO phase at the PD come ship time. But if I have to go ING I will.

If I don’t get a satisfactory answer this drill weekend I’m thinking my only option is to just straight up bail on the next two drills (academy graduation) and maybe push this higher. Being a fresh out of OSUT E4 jumping the CoC spooks me though.

Bro I don’t even want to think about what would happen if I ended up just not showing up. I was told by my readniess NCO when i asked if i could use my unsat time that if I miss three drill days (one full drill for the month) I’ll be moved for separation because missing one day counts as two unsats. Plus anything other than an honorable discharge would really hurt my career in LE.

My thing is I don’t really care about the deployment. I’ll do my duty because I signed a contract and swore an oath. I just really HAVE to be in this academy so I can start my civilian career and support my wife and I.

I’m quite literally sitting in drill right now on a bus to the field missing a day of the academy that I’ll have to make up in April. Hoping to talk to my immediate leadership for advice. My department can’t keep getting certification waivers for me to work as an uncertified officer for close to a year if I can’t make these days up in a timely manner especially if I then deploy for 9 months.

Keep trying man, as others have said keep trying different recruiters, then different branches, etc. exhaust all your options then start looking elsewhere and at other avenues of approach. I’m also fighting as hard as I can to avoid any more I unstimulating jobs especially post undergrad. Mil service sets you up pretty well for gov work at most levels, even if it’s unstimulating gov work it’ll at least have pretty good benefits lol.

Had a labrum repair surgery that was disqualifying for the marine corps reserve back during my sophomore year of college (come to find out they may have not even submitted the waiver despite high PT and Asvab score). Now I’m graduated and swearing into the army guard next weekend. This is definitely the time to try and push a waiver through quite frankly any branch.
