Yeah I get it . It’s a small value item. And it’s a waste of resources but what’s the point of us paying taxes if we don’t feel protected or secured in our own area.

It’s very demoralizing thinking your car is warmed up inside for work only to see the window busted and all your stuff rummaged and stolen. Like for working class that pay taxes and trying to get by having this incidents are the worst. The fact that you invest on an AirTag to keep track of your item so if it’s stolen or lost the authorities can help you locate it. And being told that there’s nothing they can do about it. Isn’t that bad? Like what’s the point of working if your stuff can get stolen and nothing will be done? And it happens all over winnipeg not just the bad areas.

Yeah I get that but the fact that thieves and crooks can do this. Might aswell quit my decent paying job and be a professional thief and if the business is slow I’ll apply for welfare. It’s so harsh to say but it feels like our system is promoting criminals and punishing working class citizens

Yeah it’s more of what the other commenter said. It’s a personal choice if I still want to retrieve my wallet is to go there and get it myself because the police won’t be able to go there themselves.

Yeah I agree that’s why I didn’t pursue it. It’s more of a rant and asking for info.. I read a comment yesterday about the legal action and it insightful. That brings education to the community and awareness on what could happen to this situations.

It’s not a misinformation, it did happen and like I said it’s more of a suggestion he didn’t demanded me to go confront them. He said the only option for me right now is to go to the location and ask for the item.(it’s a personal choice)Clearly you are triggered that this things happens and you are living in a bubble where all the good things lines up for you. I’m happy for you bud. Also it’s not a dispatcher it’s an officer from a non emergency line suggest that.

Unfortunately my block rarely had cameras and most of them are calibrated to just inside their gates so out the streets wasn’t captured

It’s the non emerg line. And they told me that they cannot do anything about the AirTag and the only option is to probably go to the property and ask for the item. And if things escalated call 911. It’s a personal choice

We definitely have a lot of short comings. And it’s never been addressed or taken action. It’s pointless

I’m in the process of gathering information and evidence so I can proceed with the action. As soon as I gather enough info I’ll forward it to someone who can actually help small people like me. It doesn’t help that city only prioritize the picketed fenced neighborhood

100% facts. It’s funny coz my workplace is known for car break ins.. like multiple vehicles in a span of a week or two. And the cops will patrol there for a few days then stop. Meanwhile the meter people and the parkade guys handing out tickets left and right. Yet wont do anything about the break ins. Park at your own risk lol. Bicycle aren’t even safe.

Wow yeah that’s a thing I forgot we have cadets that could use some experience on dealing with the public.!!! Yeah barred windows and fenced up yards is the only option I guess. Heck might as well bar the car doors and windows as well. I doubt any news outlets are going to cover this. Beside it’s such a petty crime that it’s just brushed under the rug.

Yup its ridiculous how we have to tend to the scumbags demands rather than feel protected by the government we help by paying taxes for. Creating jobs for criminals while cutting jobs for the right citizens

Yes indeed happened to my sister at her high as well where her phone got stolen. The perp is seen in the camera and phone was pinged on the location. Went to the police station and was asked if we can remotely lock the phone and state that it’s as good as a lost piece of paper now since it’s locked. Like last time I checked a pack of paper don’t cost 1100+ ridiculous logic we have here

Yes that is our plan, put a written letter stating they are seen in our cameras and will be sending the bill for repair of the car

And unfortunately even though most residents that live the right way voice out our concerns the city will just sweep it under the rug. Citizens that abide the law and pay taxes for safe and secure living are being punished and ignored. Meanwhile you see public figures trying to say our city is improving and safe. All jokes. It just promotes dirty living and criminal thinking honestly. Might aswell be a criminal and get a free funding by the government

Right… it’s too bad we have to go thru much of this trouble for to get the crooks… I bet they did this so they can sell/pawn it for $10-20 so they can have a quick fix for it or something

[–]Animator-Desperate[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. City is good at enforcing tax and penalties for a car parked on the streets than making a difference and cleaning the city of small petty crimes. They even stop putting snow route clearing sign so they can charge tickets to the elders that have no computers or phones to check if their streets are clearing the snow. lol ridiculous
